Abstract
Depresi pada remaja merupakan gangguan psikiatri yang berbeda dengan depresi yang terjadi pada dewasa sehingga sering terlewat untuk didiagnosis. Salah satu factor penting munculnya depresi pada remaja ialah tuntutanBakademik,BterutamaBketika ujian masuk PTN. RemajaByang gagal masuk PTN akan menunjukkan berbagai macam gejala depresi dan manajemennya. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif fenomenologi deskriptif yang mengeksplor tentang gejala depresi dan manajemennya pada remaja yang gagal masuk PTN. Penelitian ini melibatkan 7 orang partisipan remaja lulusan SMA lulusan 2017/2018 yang pernah gagal masuk PTN dari tempat bimbingan belajar Inten Malang. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan 2 metode, yaitu Focus Group Discussion (FGD) pada 6 partisipan dan wawancara mendalam pada 1ipartisipan. Didapatkan berbagai macam gejala depresi yang muncul, seperti afek depresif, rendah diri, irritable, putus asa, dan suka menyendiri. Didapatkan pula berbagai macam manajemen koping, seperti penyusunanBreaksi isolasi proyeksi, rasionalisasi, dan penebusan. PenelitianBini menyimpulkanBbahwa munculnyaBgejalaBdepresiBdipengaruhi oleh factor internalBdari dirinyaBsendiriBdan juga faktorBeksternal, seperti teman-temanBdan keluarga mekanisme koping yang terjadi sebagai respon kegagalan pada remaja ini juga berbeda-beda pada masing-masing individu dan sebagian bersifat membangun sedangkan yang lainnya tidak. Banyak hal yang membantu remaja untuk bangkit dari masalahnya ini, seperti contohnya dukungan orang tua dan teman-teman senasib.
English Abstract
Depression in adolescent is a psychiatric disorder that is different from adult depression and makes it often underdiagnosed. One important factor of depression in adolescent is academic grades, especially when they take state, university enterance exam. Teens who are fail to enter state university will show various kind of symptoms of depression and it’s management. This research is qualitative research phenomenological descriptive to explore the symptoms of depression, and it’s management in adolescent who are not accepted in state university. This research involves 7 teen participants from Inten learning institution who graduated from senior high school in 2017/2018 and have been failed in state university enterance exam. Data collecting method was done by 2 methods, Focus Group Discussion with 6 participants and in-depth interview with 1 participant. Based on the results of the interview, there is a wide variety of symptoms ofBdepression that appears such as depressive mood, low self-esteem, irritable, hopeless, and like to be alone. It also shows a wide range of coping mechanisms, such as the reaction arrangement, isolation, projection, rationalization, and redemption. This research concluded that the symptoms of depression in adolescent influenced by internal factors from themselves and also external factors, such as friends and family. The coping mechanisms that occurBinBadolescent as responseBto theirBfailure are varies in each individual. Some of the coping mechanisms areBconstructive and the others do not. Many things that helps adolescent to rise from their problem, for example the support of parents and friends.
