Abstract

Gondorukem adalah residu dari destilasi getah pohon pinus, produk ini mempunyai karakresistik yaitu hidrofobik, promotor adhesive dan viskositas sehingga dapat dipakai sebagai isolator. Penelitian ini membahas gondorukem sebagai bahan coating pada baja tulangan beton. Proses coating bertujuan memberikan proteksi pada logam dari korosi, pada awal perkembangan coating menggunakan logam lain sebagai coating, namun saat ini berkembang dengan menggunakan bahan alami atau ramah lingkungan. Tesis ini membahas gondorukem sebagai pelapis pada baja tulangan beton, dimana memanfaatkan karakteristik gondorukem yang bersifat: hidrofobik, mempunyai sifat sebagai promotor adhesi dan viskositas. Gondorukem yang digunakan berdasar standar kualitas yaitu gondorukem; T dan U (Standar SNI). Gondorukem yang telah dihaluskan kemudian dilarutkan dengan larutan pelarut Xylene dengan perbandingan 1:1. Selanjutnya proses coating sampel baja tulangan, ini dilakukan dengan cara sampel dicelupkan pada larutan gondorukem hingga 10 detik, setelah itu dikeringkan selama 6 jam, untuk mendapatkan coating yang lebih tebal maka dilakukan proses berulang sampai 3 kali. Sampel kemudian dibenamkan air tawar hingga 60 hari, diamati setiap 10 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Hasil coating yang didapat dengan 1- 3 kali process mempunyai ketebalan < 50 μm pada gondorukem T dan U 2) Ketebalan coating mempengaruhi ketahanan terhadap korosi baik pada gondorukem T dan U. 3) Kualitas coating gondorukem U lebih baik daripada T, hal ini ditunjukkan dengan ketahanan terhadap korosi . 4) Gondorukem merupakan resin alami yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif sebagai coating pada baja tulangan beton yang akan memberikan manfaat besar bagi konservasi alam dan pencegahan pencemaran lingkungan.

English Abstract

Gondorukem is a residue from the distillation of pine tree sap, this product has the characteristic of hydrophobic, adhesive promoter and viscosity so it can be used as an insulator. This study discusses gondorukem as a coating material on concrete reinforcing steel. The coating process aims to provide protection to metals from corrosion, in the early development of coatings using other metals as coatings, but currently developing using natural or environmentally friendly materials. This thesis discusses gondorukem as a coating on concrete reinforcing steel, which utilizes the characteristic of gondorukem which is: hydrophobic, has properties as adhesion and viscosity promoter. Gondorukem used based on the quality standards of gondorukem; T and U (Standard SNI). The mashed gondorukem is then dissolved with Xylene solvent solution at a ratio of 1: 1. Furthermore, the process of coating of steel reinforcement sample, this is done by the sample dipped in the solution gondorukem up to 10 seconds, after it dried for 6 hours, to get a thicker coating then done repeated process up to 3 times. Samples were then immersed in fresh water for up to 60 days, observed every 10 days. The results showed : 1) Coating results obtained with 1- 3 times the process has a thickness <50 μm in gondorukem T and U. 2) Coating thickness affects corrosion resistance both on gondorukem T and U. 3) The quality of the coating gondorukem U is better than T, this is indicated by corrosion resistance. 4) Gondorukem is a natural resin that can be used as an alternative as a coating on concrete reinforcing steel that will provide great benefits for nature conservation and prevention of environmental pollution.
