Abstract

English Abstract

Menstruation is a physiological thing that occurs in young women, but teenage girls often complain of pain or cramps in the lower abdomen during menstruation called dysmenorrhea. The prevalence of dysmenorrhea in Indonesia is 64.25%. Dysmenorrhea in Indonesia Primary dysmenorrhea occurs because prostaglandin levels in the endometrium increase, resulting in uterine muscle contraction and the onset of pain. Magnesium is a micronutrient that can function to mengahbat prostaglandin biosynthesis so as to reduce uterine muscle tension and reduce dysmenorrhea pain. Almonds have a high magnesium content of 5 g / 100 grams. This objective of this research was to know the effect of of consumption of almonds (Prunus dulcis) on the intensity of primary dysmenorrhea in young lady in SMA BSS Malang. This research is pure experimental with Randomize Pretest-Postest Control Group Design with single blinded. The samples were choosen using simple random sampling to be divided into 4 groups, they are control group (no treatment), treatment group 1 (15 gram), treatment group 2 (18 gram), and treatment group 3 (21 gram) with consumption dose divided by 3 and consumed every 4 hours for 12 hours during menstruation for the first day. Pain using VAS (Visual Analog Score). Statistical test used was parametric test, that was One Way ANOVA test to test the effect of almond’s consumption on primary dysmenorrhea pain, continued using Tukey HSD test to know the difference of pain effect of each group. One Way ANOVA results found p = 0.000 so that the effect of almond nuts on the decrease of primary dysmenorrhea pain. The result of One Way ANOVA test is p=0,000 so that there is the effect of almond toward primary dysmenorrhea, continued using Tukey HSD test to know the difference of pain of primary dysmenorrhea among treatment groups. The result of Tukey HSD test proofs that there is difference of dysmenorrhea pain reduction among groups, they are for control group with all experimental group (p = 0,000) and P1 with P3 (p = 0.017). Mean delta values indicate that in the treatment of 1 dose of 300 mg of magnesium has the most effective effect for reducing primary dysmenorrhea. The conclusion of this research is that there is efeect of consumption of almond (Prunus dulcis) to the decrease of primary dysmenorrhea pain in young lady.
