Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik aliran dua fasa gas-cairan non- Newtonian melalui pipa lurus. Cairan polycarylamide (PAM) dan gas argon yang digunakan sebagai fluida uji untuk menghasilkan aliran dua fasa yang diobservasi pada pipa circular akrilik berdiameter 1 inchi. Variasi cairan yang digunakan adalah konstentrasi PAM sebesar 0,1% dan 0,4% dan ultra pure water. Begitu juga debit cairan yang digunakan yaitu 0.15, 0.1833, 0.2167, 0.25, dan 0.2833 m3/s dan debit gas yang digunakan yaitu 0.0833, 0.1667, dan 0.25 m3/s. Data diambil dengan high speed camera dan hasil video yang didapat diolah menggunakan ImageJ dan SolveigMM untuk menghitung bubble length, bubble velocity, dan void fraction. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pengaruh dari viskositas yang dimana data didapat dari Mansour (2015) terhadap bubble length, bubble velocity, dan bubble nose dimana semakin tinggi viskositas maka bubble length akan semakin tinggi, bubble velocity semakin tinggi, bubble nose semakin tajam. Pengaruh dari debit gas terhadap void fraction dimana semakin tingg debit gas maka semakin tinggi nilai void fraction.

English Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the characteristics of non-Newtonian twophase gas-liquid flow through straight pipes. Polycarylamide (PAM) and argon gas are used as test fluids to produce a two-phase flow which is observed in an 1 inch diameter acrylic circular pipe. The liquid variations used are PAM concentrations of 0.1% and 0.4% and ultra pure water. Likewise the liquid discharge used is 0.15, 0.1833, 0.2167, 0.25, and 0.2833 m3/s and the gas discharge used is 0.0833, 0.1667 and 0.25 m3/s. Data taken with high speed camera and video results obtained are processed using ImageJ and SolveigMM to calculate bubble length, bubble velocity, and void fraction. The results of the study show the effect of viscosity which data obtained from Mansour (2015) on bubble length, bubble velocity, and bubble nose where the higher the viscosity, the higher the bubble length, the higher the bubble velocity, the sharper bubble nose. The effect of the gas discharge on void fraction where the higher the gas discharge, the higher the value of void fraction.
