Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas tentang hirarki kebutuhan yang terdapat pada karakter utama pada film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs oleh Phil Lord Hirarki kebutuhan tersebut pertama kali dicetuskan oleh Abraham Maslow pada tahun 1943 yang tercakup dalam teori humanistik tentang motivasi. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menganalisis bagaimana hirarki kebutuhan Abraham Maslow diaplikasikan pada kehidupan sehari-hari karakter utama film tersebut untuk mengetahui apakah teori ini dapat diaplikasikan pada kehidupan jaman sekarang. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tepori humanistik tentang motivasi yang berisikan hirarki kebutuhan untuk menganalisis data. Penelitian ini memiliki dua masalah yaitu bagaimana hirarki kebutuhan Abraham Maslow tergambarkan pada kehidupan pribadi sang karakter utama serta bagaimana sang karakter utama memenuhi kebutuhannya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa hirarki kebutuhan Abraham Maslow tidak dapat teraplikasi pada kehidupan sang karakter utama karena tidak mengikuti urutan kronologis yang berbentuk hirarki dan ada beberapa kebutuhan yang belum terpenuhi oleh sang karakter utama. Namun, hasil dari penelitian ini memperlihatkan cara dan aksi yang dilakukan oleh sang karakter utama dalam memenuhi kebutuhannya.
English Abstract
This study discusses the hierarchy of needs that exist in the main character in the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Phil Lord. The hierarchy of needs was first coined by American psychologist, Abraham Maslow in 1943 which is included in the humanistic theory of motivation. In this study, the author analyzes how Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs apply to the daily life of the main character of the movie to find out whether this theory could be applied to contemporary life. The theory used in this study is humanistic theory of motivation which contains a hierarchy of needs to analyze data. This study has two problems, namely; how the hierarchy of Abraham Maslow's needs are depicted in the personal life of the main character and how the main character fulfil his needs. The results of this study show that Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs cannot be applied to the life of the main character because it does not follow a chronological order in the form of a hierarchy and there are some needs that have not been fulfilled by the main character. However, the results of this study show the ways and actions carried out by the main character in fulfilling his needs.
