Abstract

Tindakan ilokusi dapat membantu pendengar untuk memahami makna pembicara dengan aksi tindakan di balik ucapannya. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menganalisis pengucapan Michelle Obama dikarenakan ingin mengetahui penggunaan tindakan ilokusi dan konteks dalam pesannya sebagai Ibu Negara di Amerika Serikat. Oleh karena itu, ada dua masalah studi yang perlu diselesaikan, yaitu: (1) apa jenis tindakan ilokusi yang digunakan dalam wawancara Michelle Obama dalam konferensi wanita di Amerika Serikat? Dan (2) apa saja elemen konteks yang dapat membantu aliran komunikasi selama wawancara konferensi wanita di Amerika Serikat? Pada penelitian ini, pendekatan kualitatif digunakan, kemudian untuk menganalisis data, klasifikasi dari Searle pada tindakan ilokusi (1969) dan teori konteks dari Hymes (1974) digunakan. Peneliti menemukan 129 ucapan yang mengandung tindakan ilokusi yang di ucapkan oleh Michelle Obama pada wawancaranya dalam acara Konferensi Wanita. terdapat 4 tipe dari 5 tipe tindakan ilokusi yaitu: representatif (81 ucapan), direktif (22 ucapan), komisif (5 ucapan), dan ekspresif (21 ucapan). Tindakan representatif adalah jenis tindakan ilokusi yang banyak digunakan oleh Michelle Obama karena memberikan informasi yang dia ketahui saat menjabat sebagai Ibu Negara untuk mengajak para penonton dalam mengurangi kekerasan terhadap wanita dan anakanak. Dan juga, diketahui bahwa aspek signifikan yang paling banyak mempengaruhi aspek komunikasi yang dihasilkan oleh Michelle dalam wawancaranya adalah aspek peserta dan tujuan. Peneliti menyadari bahwa dia belum menganalisis strategi kesopanan sehingga peneliti selanjutnya disarankan untuk fokus pada diskusi tentang perilaku dalam bersikap sopan dikarenakan sebagian besar interaksi dalam sesi wawancara adalah sesi tanya jawab.

English Abstract

Illocutionary acts can help the listener to conceive the speaker’s meaning with the act behind its utterance. In this study, the researcher analyzed Michelle Obama’s utterance since wants to know the use of illocutionary acts and its context in her message as the First Lady of United States. Therefore, there are two problem of study that needed to be solved, namely: (1) what are the types of illocutionary acts used in Michelle Obama’s interview at the United States of Women Summit? And (2) what are the elements of context that can help the flow of communication during her interview at the United States of Women Summit? In this study, qualitative approach was employed, then to analyze the data, Searle’s classification on illocutionary acts (1969) and Hyme’s theory of context (1974) were used. The researcher found 129 utterances that contain of illocutionary acts performed by Michelle Obama in her interview at the Women Summit. There were 4 types out 5 types of illocutionary acts which are: representatives (81 utterances), directives (22 utterances), commissives (5 utterances), and expressives (21 utterances). Representative acts is the type of illocutionary acts that mostly used by Michelle Obama since she gave the information that she knew when served as the First Lady to persuade the audiences in order to decrease the violence against women and children. Also, it was known the significance aspect that mostly flows the aspect of communication produced by Michelle in her interview were the aspect of participants and ends. The researcher realizes that she has not analysis in the politeness strategies so the next researcher are suggested to focus on identify the discussion of attitude on being polite since most of the interaction in interview session are question and answer session.
