Abstract

Belajar bahasa Inggris bagi setiap orang merupakan hal yang harus dilakukan. Khususnya untuk bahasa kedua mereka. Masyarakat berbagai macam umur, mencoba memahami bahasa Inggris untuk kebutuhan mereka. Tapi selain pemahaman mereka, seharusnya mereka memiliki alasan untuk belajar bahasa itu untuk bahasa kedua mereka. Hal itu disebut motivasi. Penulis ingin mengetahui motivasi siswa kelas sepuluh di SMAN 79 Jakarta saat belajar bahasa Inggris pada English Day (Bahasa Inggris). Peneliti menggunakan teori dari Gardner dan Lambert (1972). Penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif, peneliti mencoba untuk mengetahui permasalahan berdasarkan kuesioner AMTB dari Gardner dan Lambert (1972). Untuk menganalisa data, penulis menggunakan aplikasi Excel (2010) dan hasilnya akan terlihat pada data statistik. Berdasarkan dari hasilnya, peneliti menemukan motivasi yang mempengaruhi siswa dalam belajar bahasa inggris adalah motivasi instrumental, dan siswa belajar bahasa inggris karena mereka membutuhkan di masa depan seperti mencari pekerjaan, lebih berwawasan dan untuk karir yang lebih baik di masa depan.

English Abstract

In Indonesia leaning English for people are very importants things to do. Especially for their second language.People in every various age, try do understand the English for their necessary needs. But beside their understanding, their should have a reason to learn that language for their second language. it’s called motivation. The researcher wants to find out the motivation of ten grades students at SMAN 79 Jakarta while learing English on English Day ( English Class ). The researcher used the theory from Gardner and Lambert (1972) that explain about instrumental motivation and integrative motivation. This research used descriptive quantitative, the researcher tries to find out the problems based on the AMTB Questionaire based on Gardner and Lambert (1972). To analyze the data the writer use Excel (2010) and for the result is presented statistical data. Based on the result, the researcher found that the most influencing students appereance while learning English was instrumental motivation. The motive to learn English is because they need for their future life such as looking for a job, more knowledgable and for their better career on future.
