Abstract

Kluwak adalah tanaman asli Indonesia yang semua bagian tumbuhannya dapat dimanfaatkan. Salah satu bagian tanaman ini yang paling sering dimanfaatkan adalah bagian bijinya. Kajian mengenai sifat fisik dan mekanik kluwak dibutuhkan dalam penanganan pasca panen yang meliputi teknik penyimpanan, teknik pengemasan dan perancangan alat pemecah kluwak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pengukuran sifat fisik meliputi massa, massa per 100 biji kluwak, dimensi, diameter rata-rata (aritmatik, geometrik, kuadrat dan ekivalen), sphericity, surface area, volume, true density, bulk density, porositas, angle of friction dan peel ratio, serta melakukan pengukuran sifat mekanik yang meliputi gaya tekan, tegangan, regangan dan modulus elastisitas. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan sampel sebanyak 100 kluwak dengan bentuk dan ukuran seragam yang telah difermentasi dengan cara dibakar hingga berwarna coklat kehitaman. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebanyak tiga kali pengulangan. Hasil penelitian ini berupa nilai rata-rata massa sebesar 19,510 gram, massa per 100 biji sebesar 1693,387 gram, dimensi yang meliputi panjang 44,940 mm; lebar 43,349 mm; tebal 27,403, diameter ekivalen 38,003 mm, sphericity 0,867, surface area 4413,999 mm2, volume 13,569 cm3, true density 1,004 g/cm3, bulk density 0,419 g/cm3, porositas 58,212%, peel ratio 69,073%, serta angle of friction dengan lima jenis permukaan gesek yang meliputi kardus 0,485; stainless steel 0,308; plat besi 0,395; kaca 0,218; dan kayu 0,472. Selain itu, pengukuran gaya tekan yang meliputi tegak lurus dimensi panjang 295,344 N; lebar 283,870 N; tebal 215,714 N, regangan yang meliputi tegak lurus dimensi panjang 0,095; lebar 0,069; tebal 0,050, tegangan yang meliputi tegak lurus dimensi panjang 2,104 N/mm2; lebar 2,659 N/mm2; tebal 2,049 N/mm2, modulus elastisitas yang meliputi tegak lurus dimensi panjang 23,155 N/mm2; lebar 45,437 N/mm2 dan tebal 48,118 N/mm2.

English Abstract

Kluwak is an Indonesian native plant that all parts of the plant can be utilized. One part of this plant that is most often used is the seeds. The study of the physical and mechanical properties of kluwak is needed in post-harvest handling which includes storage techniques, packaging techniques and design of kluwak crushers. This study aims to measure physical properties including mass, mass per 100 kluwak seeds, dimensions, mean diameter (arithmetic, geometric, square and equivalent), sphericity, surface area, volume, true density, bulk density, porosity, angle of friction and peel ratio, as well as measuring mechanical properties including compressive force, stress, strain and modulus of elasticity. This research method uses a sample of 100 kluwak with uniform shapes and sizes that have been fermented by burning until blackish brown. This research was carried out three times repetition. The results of this study in the form of a mass average value of 19,510 grams, mass per 100 seeds of 1693,387 grams, dimensions included a length of 44,940 mm; width of 43,349 mm; 27,403 thickness, equivalent mean diameter 38,003 mm, sphericity 0,867, surface area 4413,999 mm2, volume 13,569 cm3, true density 1,004 g / cm3, bulk density 0,419 g / cm3, porosity 58,212%, peel ratio 69,073%, and angle of friction with five types of friction surfaces which include cardboard 0,485; stainless steel 0,308; iron plate 0,395; glass 0,218; and wood 0,472. In addition, the measurement of compressive force which includes perpendicular dimensions of length 295,344 N; width 283,870 N; thickness of 215,714 N, strain which includes perpendicular dimensions of length 0.095; width 0,069; thickness 0,050, stress which includes perpendicular dimensions of length 2,104 N / mm2; width 2,659 N / mm2; thickness 2,049 N / mm2, modulus of elasticity which includes perpendicular dimensions of length 23,155 N / mm2; width 45,437 N / mm2 and thickness 48,118 N / mm2.
