Abstract
Penelitian ini berangkat dari kurangnya minat masyarakat terhadap sejarah tokoh pers Indonesia. Tidak banyak masyarakat mengenal para tokoh pers yang memiliki jasa dalam memperjuangkan kemerdekaan Indonesia melalui perjuangan dengan pena. Disisi lain, sejarah penting untuk diketahui oleh masyarakat karena sejarah dapat digunkan sebagai pedoman dalam memahami kondisi kontemporer karena sejarah menunjukan pembentukan nilai, kepercayaan, praktik, etika serta peristiwa masa lalu untuk memahami kondisi sekarang. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengenalkan tokoh pers Indonesia, bagaimana perjuangan dan jasanya dalam pers Indonesia. Tokoh pers Indonesia yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah H.O.S Tjokroaminoto. Sayangnya ketokohan dan kepeloporan sebagai bagian dari sejarah pers pergerakan nasional Indonesia ini, tidak banyak mendapatkan perhatian dari masyrakat. Penelitian ini berusaha menjawab pertanyaan penelitian tentang bagaimana mengenal tokoh pers H.O.S Tjokroaminoto dan kontribusinya di bidang pers Indonesia menggunakan perspektif communication history untuk melihat bahwa penelitian mengenai tokoh pers menjadi bagian dari sejarah komunikasi melalui studi jurnalis. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah participatif action research dengan menggunakan data naratif. Hasil analisis data menemukan bahwa; (1) kiprah H.O.S Tjokroaminoto dalam sejarah pergerakan pers Indonesia tidak begitu dikenal oleh masyarakat; (2) Seni merupakan cara belajar yang menyenangkan; (3) Mengetahui tokoh pers merupakan hal yang penting untuk dipelajari oleh masyarakat. Analisis data juga menemukan bahwa pemikiran H.O.S Tjokroaminoto dasar-dasar dari pemikiran mengenai Sosialisme Islam di Indonesia bukan dipengaruhi oleh pemikiran barat, melainkan bersumber pada ajaran-ajaran Islam.
English Abstract
This research departs from the lack of public interest in the history of Indonesian press figures. Not many people know the press figures who have services in fighting for Indonesian independence through struggle with pens. On the other hand, history is important to be known by society because history can be used as a guide in understanding contemporary conditions because history shows the formation of values, beliefs, practices, ethics and past events to understand the present conditions. This research tries to introduce Indonesian press figures, how their struggles and services are in the Indonesian press. The figure of the Indonesian press discussed in this study was H. SO Tjokroaminoto. Unfortunately the character and pioneering role as part of the history of the press of the Indonesian national movement have not received much public attention. This study seeks to answer the research question about how to get to know press figures H. S. Tjokroaminoto and his contribution in the Indonesian press field using the perspective of communication history to see that research on press figures is part of the history of communication through the study of journalists. The research methodology used in this study is participatory action research using narrative data. The results of data analysis found that; (1) H.O.S Tjokroaminoto's work in the history of the Indonesian press movement is not well known by the public; (2) Art is a fun way of learning; (3) Knowing the figures of the press is an important thing to learn by the community. Data analysis also found that H. S. Tjokroaminoto's thoughts on the fundamentals of thinking about Islamic Socialism in Indonesia were not influenced by western thought, but were based on Islamic teachings.
