Abstract

Peningkatan produksi pengolahan kelapa sawit di Indonesia sejalan dengan peningkatan limbah yang dihasilkan. Menurut Haryanti (2014), pengolahan 1 ton kelapa sawit akan menghasilkan limbah berupa tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKKS) sebanyak 23% atau 230 kg. TKKS menjadi limbah utama dari industri pengolahan kelapa sawit. TKKS mengandung unsur organik sebesar 42,8% C, 0,80% N, 0,22% P2O5, 0,30% MgO, dan 0,09% K2O. Salah satu potensi TKKS yang cukup besar yaitu sebagai sumber hara bagi tanaman karena memiliki unsur organik yang cukup tinggi. Potensi ini dapat dikembangkan melalui pengolahan TKKS menjadi mulsa organik lembaran. Pembuatan mulsa organik lembaran dengan bahan baku TKKS juga dapat dijadikan sebagai suatu peluang dalam agroindustri kreatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor lama penimbunan TKKS terhadap kualitas mulsa organik lembaran, dan karakterisrik TKKS serta karakteristik mulsa organik lembaran yang dihasilkan. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) 1 faktor yaitu lama penimbunan, terdiri dari 0 hari, 7 hari dan 14 hari, dengan 5 ulangan. Data hasil pengukuran dianalisis secara statistik dengan menggunakan bantuan software SPSS 17.0 for Windows. Pengukuran karakteristik TKKS (APHA, 2005) yaitu berdasarkan berat kering (%), kadar air (%), berat bahan organik (%) dan kadar abu (%). Pengukuran karakteristik mulsa organik lembaran yaitu rendemen (Sudarmadji, 1989), kerapatan (Susatyo, 2014), pH (Sudarmadji, dkk, 1984), daya serap air (Handayani, 2010), serta kandungan N, P, dan K (Balai Penelitian Tanah, 2005). viii Lama penimbunan bahan baku TKKS memberikan pengaruh terhadap kualitas mulsa organik lembaran yang dihasilkan. Karakteristik kadar air dari TKKS berdasarkan lama penimbunan mengalami penurunan pada 0 hari sebesar 61,93%, 7 hari sebesar 53,18%, dan 14 hari sebesar 36,88%. Karakteristik kadar abu TKKS mengalami peningkatan pada 0 hari sebesar 6,11%, 7 hari sebesar 6,47%, dan 14 hari sebesar 7,02%. Karakteristik mulsa organik lembaran yang dihasilkan berdasarkan parameter rendemen pada perlakuan lama penimbunan 0 hari sebesar 45,61%, 7 hari sebesar 53,44% dan 14 hari sebesar 55,92%, parameter kerapatan yaitu pada perlakuan lama penimbunan 0 hari sebesar 0,1672 g/cm3, 7 hari sebesar 0,1815 g/cm3, dan 14 hari sebesar 0,1827 g/cm3, parameter pH yaitu pada perlakuan lama penimbunan 0 hari sebesar 6,94, 7 hari sebesar 7,26 dan 14 hari sebesar 7,82, parameter daya serap air yaitu pada perlakuan lama penimbunan 0 hari sebesar 53,06%, 7 hari sebesar 54,44%, dan 14 hari sebesar 55,70%, parameter kandungan nitrogen (N) pada perlakuan lama penimbunan 0 hari sebesar 0,18%, 7 hari sebesar 0,22% dan 14 hari sebesar 0,41%, kandungan fosfor (P) yaitu pada perlakuan 0 hari sebesar 0,01, 7 hari sebesar 0,02 dan 14 hari sebesar 0,02, kandungan kalium (K) yaitu sebesar 0,01% pada semua perlakuan lama penimbunan. Saran dari penelitian ini adalah diperlukan penelitian mengenai pengaruh kadar NaOH terhadap parameter mulsa organik yang dihasilkan.

English Abstract

Increased palm oil processing production in Indonesia is in line with the increase in waste produced. According to Haryanti (2014), processing 1 ton of palm oil will produce 23% or 230 kg of oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB). OPEFB is a major waste of the palm oil processing industry. OPEFB contains organic elements of 42.8% C, 0.80% N, 0.22% P2O5, 0.30% MgO, and 0.09% K2O. One of the potential large enough OPEFBs is as a source of nutrients for plants because they have high organic matter. This potential can be developed through processing OPEFB into organic mulch sheets. Making organic sheet mulch with raw material for OPEFB can also be used as an opportunity in creative agro-industry. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the duration of OPEFB accumulation on the quality of sheet organic mulch, and the characteristics of OPEFB as well as the characteristics of the resulting organic mulch. This study was designed using a Randomized Block Design (RCBD) with 1 factor, namely the accumulation time consisting of 0 days, 7 days and 14 days, and repetition as a research group. The measurement data were analyzed statistically using the help of SPSS 17.0 for Windows software. Measurement of characteristics of OPEFB (APHA, 2005) based on dry weight (%), moisture content (%), the weight of organic matter (%) and ash content (%). Measurement of characteristics of sheet organic mulch in the form of yield (Sudarmadji, 1989), density (Susatyo, 2014), pH (Sudarmadji, et al, 1984), water absorption (Handayani, 2010), and content of N, P, and K (Research Institute Land, 2005). The length of accumulation of raw material in the form of OPEFB affects on the quality of organic mulch produced. x Characteristics of the water content of OPEFB based on stockpiling time decreased, namely at 0 days by 61.93%, 7 days by 53.18%, and by 14 days by 36.88%. Characteristics of OPEFB ash content increased by 0 days by 6.11%, 7 days by 6.47%, and 14 days by 7.02%. Attributes of sheet organic mulch produced based on yield parameters on the treatment of 0 days of stockpiling time of 45.61%, 7 days of 53.44% and 14 days of 55.92%, the density parameters are 0 days of stockpiling treatment of 0, 1672 g / cm3, 7 days of 0.1815 g / cm3, and 14 days of 0.1827 g / cm3, pH parameters, namely the treatment of 0 days of stockpiling time of 6.94, 7 days of 7.26 and 14 days for 7.82, the water absorption parameter is the treatment of 0 days of stockpiling time of 53.06%, 7 days of 54.44%, and 14 days of 55.70%, the parameter of nitrogen content (N) is in the long hoarding treatment 0 days at 0.18%, 7 days at 0.22% and 14 days at 0.41%, phosphorus content (P) at 0 days treatment at 0.01, 7 days at 0.02 and 14 days at 0, 02, the content of potassium (K) is 0.01% in all hoarding treatments. Suggestion from this research is that research is needed on the effect of NaOH levels on the parameters of organic mulch produced.
