Permata, Dewintasari (2018) Profesionalitas Make Up Artist Pria di Kota Malang. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

Peneliti menggunakan konsep gender, maskulinitas, feminitas, dan make up artist.

English Abstract

This time the researchers discussed the problem of how male make-up artists in Malang City maintain their professionalism. Starting from the gender context that wanted to be researched to refer to work that tended to be feminine, this research made it more interesting to study. The researcher uses the concepts of gender, masculinity, femininity, and make up artist. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. By using data collection techniques through interviews and observations and using the technique of determining the informant's purposive sampling and the researcher determined that the character of the informant's make-up artist was as desired. Then the data were analyzed using several steps according to Miles, Huberman and Saldana's theory (2014), namely analyzing data in three steps: data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data condensation refers to selecting, focusing, simplifying, abstracting, and transforming. In this study, the researcher explained that although a make up artist is a job that tends to be more feminine and considered unnatural when done by men and has several exchanges whether in terms of appearance or masculine and feminine characteristics, researcher informants have their own ways to interpret and maintain their own masculinity as appropriate as a man. In this study the researcher explained what are the supporting factors for the informants to remain in the world of make up artist and the efforts of the informants in maintaining their masculinity.
