Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara pertumbuhan ekonomi, yang diwakili oleh variabel Produk Domestik Bruto (PDB) per kapita, dan perubahan kualitas lingkungan yang diwakili oleh variabel emisi karbondioksida (CO2) per kapita di negara-negara Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership dengan menggunakan data time series selama periode 1999-2014. Selain itu ditambahkan beberapa variabel lain sebagai variabel penjelas, yakni perdagangan bebas dan Penanaman Modal Asing (PMA) sebagai penjelas keterbukaan ekonomi, dan variabel penjelas lainnya seperti populasi penduduk, efisiensi energi, serta krisis ekonomi. Hasil penelitian dengan menggunakan regresi data panel dengan model fixed effect dapat membuktikan hipotesis EKC dengan adanya hubungan kurva U terbalik antara pertumbuhan ekonomi dan perubahan kualitas lingkungan, terdapat juga hubungan yang positif pada variabel populasi penduduk sedangkan variabel perdagangan bebas, PMA, efisiensi energi, dan krisis ekonomi berhubungan negatif terhadap perubahan kualitas lingkungan.

English Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between economic growth, represented by the per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and environmental quality changes represented by the per capita carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership countries using data time series during the period 1999-2014. In addition, several other variables were added as explanatory variables, namely free trade and foreign direct investment (FDI) as explanations of economic openness, and other explanatory variables such as population, energy efficiency, and economic crisis. The result of research by using regression of panel data with fixed effect model can prove EKC hypothesis with existence of reversed curve U between economic growth and environmental quality change, there is also positive relation on population variable while free trade variable, FDI, energy efficiency, and crisis Economy is negatively related to changes in environmental quality
