Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran identitas etnis yang dilihat dari masing-masing dimensinya (eksplorasi, komitmen, dan afirmasi) terhadap fanatisme bahasa pada mahasiswa Batak di Kota Malang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasional dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 170 responden yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah skala Ethnic Identity Scale (EIS) milik Umana-Taylor, Yazedjian, & Bamaca Gomez (Paramita, 2015) dan skala fanatisme bahasa yang dibuat oleh peneliti dan mengacu pada teori Ismail (Rini, 2016). Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linier berganda. Ada tiga hasil uji hipotesis dalam penelitian ini. Pertama, eksplorasi identitas etnis berperan negatif terhadap fanatisme bahasa. Kedua, komitmen identitas etnis tidak berperan terhadap fanatisme bahasa. Ketiga, afirmasi identitas etnis berperan negatif terhadap fanatisme bahasa.
English Abstract
The purpose of this research is to know how ethnic identity roles that were observed from each dimension (exploration, commitment, and affirmation) towards a language fanaticism in Bataknees students in Malang. This research is a correlational research with 170 samples that were chosen by means of purposive sampling technique. The measuring tools that were used in collecting data are: Ethnic Identity Scale (EIS) which are belongs to Umana-Taylor, Yazedjian, & Bamaca Gomez (Paramita,2015) and language fanaticism scale that made by the researcher referring to Ismail theory (Rini, 2016). The data analysis that are used is multiple linear regression. There are three results of hypothesis test in this research. Firstly, ethnic identity exploration has any negative role towards language fanaticism. Secondly, ethnic identity commitment doesn’t have a role towards language fanaticism. Thirdly, ethnic identity affirmation has a negative role towards language fanaticism.
