The Game Of Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish: Peran Trait Mindfulness Sebagai Moderator Pengaruh Envy Terhadap Deception Dalam Proses Negosiasi

Syamsuri, Cathy Sofhieanty (2018) The Game Of Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish: Peran Trait Mindfulness Sebagai Moderator Pengaruh Envy Terhadap Deception Dalam Proses Negosiasi. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of trait mindfulness as moderator on the effect of envy toward deception within negotiation process. Between-subject experiment conducted through online survey website among undergraduate students in Indonesia (N= 804). These participants were randomly assigned into two conditions; benign envy (envy makes individuals motivated for the better) which elicited by individual confronted in the condition of high deservingness and high control, while malicious envy condition (envy motivates individual to pulling down his/her opponent) which elicited by individual confronted in the condition of low deservingness and low control. In this study, trait mindfulness level measured by Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), while envy measured by Pain-driven Dual Envy (PaDE), and intention toward deception measured by Self-Reported Inappropriate Negotiation Strategies Scale (SINS). Moderation effects in this hypothesis tested using Hayes’s Simple Moderation Analysis. The result shows that envy plays significant role in increasing deception. In addition, trait mindfulness has role in decreasing deception. However, trait mindfulness doesn’t play a significant role in moderating the effect of envy toward deception, unless on male participants.
