Abstract
Sistem pendidikan di perguruan tinggi yang berbeda dengan sekolah menengah dapat menjadi tantangan tersendiri bagi mahasiswa. Untuk dapat menyelesaikan segala kewajiban sebagai mahasiswa, diperlukan penyesuaian diri dalam bidang akademik (academic adjustment) di perguruan tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan academic adjustment pada mahasiswa baru dengan sociometric status popular dan rejected. Subjek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu 215 mahasiswa yang sedang menempuh semester kedua (mahasiswa baru) dari berbagai fakultas di Universitas Brawijaya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Terdapat dua alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu Peer Assesment Sociometric dan subskala academic adjustment dalam Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ). Analisis data dilakukan dengan software IBM Statistics 22 for Windows. Metode analisis yang digunakan untuk uji beda adalah independent sample t-test. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan nilai pvalue sebesar 0,3196 (p-value>0,05) yang berarti tidak terdapat perbedaan academic adjustment pada mahasiswa baru dengan sociometric status popular dan rejected.
English Abstract
The education system in university that is different with education system in high school can be a challenge for college students. In order to finish all of the obligation as a college student, it’s necessary to have an academic adjustment in university. The aim of this study was to find out is there any academic adjustment difference among new college student with popular and rejected sociometric status. The subjects of this research was 215 college students who are in second semester (new students) from various majors and faculties in Brawijaya University. This research was done with quantitative method. There was two scale used in this research, i.e. Peer Assesment Sociometric and academic adjustment subscale in Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ). The data analysis was done with IBM Statistics 22 for Windows software. The analysis method used for difference test was independent sample t-test. The result of statistical test showed that p-value=0,3196 (p-value>0,05) which means there was no academic adjustment difference among new college student with popular and rejected sociometric status.
