Wirawan, Willy Artha (2018) Analisis Penambahan Coupling Agent Terhadap Kekuatan Tarik Pada Natural Fiber Composite. Magister thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Natural Fiber Composite is one of the innovations in the development of renewable material that is considered more environmentally friendly. Fiber-based natural composite was developed using bast fibers hibiscus (Hibiscus tiliaceus) combined with beragai type of matrix polymer that has a good strength. Before integrated with matrix polymer hibiscus bark, this fiberis was given a chemical treatment and was added silane coupling agent in order to improve the quality of the bond between the natural fiber and matrix polymer composites to obtain high mechanical strength. In this study, hibiscus bark fiber composite was made with a variety of types of matrices, the addition of variations silane coupling agent and variations in fiber orientation angle. Composites were made using vacuum infusion method with a pressure up to -27 atm. Tensile test specimens were made based on ASTM D638-03 type I. Hibiscus bark fiber composites was given some testing include single fiber test, test matrix without fibers, fiber chemical composition test, tensile test and test composite microstructure interface fiber using SEM (Scanning electron microscopy). In this research, some of analysis was used include analysis of the tensile strength of the composite, fracture phase analysis based on stress-strain diagram and analysis of fracture area a composite using ImageJ software. The results of this research were 1) Addition of silane coupling agent can improve the mechanical strength of the composite better. The most effective additions on hibiscus bark fiber composites was 0.75% concentration of silane coupling agent in the matrix polyester 3) the angle of fiber orientation affect fracture area of in the composites. To obtain a good fracture area can be obtained by the addition of silane coupling agent and a woven fiber orientation of 0°/90°.
