Abstract
Keluarga Besar Mahasiswa Sistem Informasi (KBMSI) merupakan suatu organisasi yang terbentuk dari Mahasiswa Sistem Informasi Universitas Brawijaya. KBMSI juga menggunakan website sebagai media untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi bagi masyarakat luar maupun mahasiswa Sistem Infomasi sendiri, terutama untuk mahasiswa Sistem Informasi sendiri. Dengan adanya website KBMSI diharapkan masyarakat maupun mahasiswa Sistem Infomasi memperoleh kemudahan saat mencari informasi seputar KBMSI. Namun hal tersebut masih perlu dipertimbangkan dengan melihat tingkat Usability yang ada pada website Keluarga Besar Mahasiswa Sistem Informasi (KBMSI). Salah satu teknik untuk mengetahui apakah website tersebut mudah digunakan adalah dengan pengujian Usability. Usability adalah suatu kualitas yang dimiliki produk atau layanan mengenai tingkat kemudahan dimana pengguna layanan dapat melakukan apa pun yang ingin dilakukan dengan cara yang diharapkan dapat dilakukan. Berdasarkan wawancara dan observasi yang dilakukan oleh penulis, ditemukan beberapa permasalahan yang ada di website Keluarga Besar Mahasiswa Sistem Informasi (KBMSI). Berdasarkan wawancara juga menemukan beberapa konten website yang kosong. Hal ini akan memengaruhi ekspektasi pengguna atas konten tersebut. Menurut Michael O. Leavitt dan Ben Shneiderman (2003) pada bukunya Research-Based Web Design & Usability Guidelines, format website harus dipastikan memenuhi harapan pengguna, terutama berkaitan dengan navigasi, konten dan organisasi tersebut tentunya hal ini akan memengaruhi nilai kegunaan pada sebuah website karena informasi yang disajikan dalam website belum memenuhi harapan pengguna.
English Abstract
Keluarga Besar Mahasiswa Sistem Informasi (KBMSI) is an organization consisted of University students of Brawijaya University. KBMSI utilize website as a mean to fulfill internal and external needs for information. The KBMSI website is supposed to provide KBMSI related news for anyone with ease. However, this aspect is yet to be measured by determining the Usability level of the website. One of the method to measure the easiness on navigation through a website is Usability testing. Usability is a quality owned by a product or service which determine how easy it would be fir user to do what they need to do with the expected way to do. Based on the interview and observation conducted by the researcher, some problem were found on the KBMSI website. Interview also unravel some empty content on the site. These things will affect the user expectation on the content. According to Michael O. Leavitt and Ben Shneiderman (2003) on their book, Research-Based Web Design & Usability Guidelines, website format should made to fulfill the user expectation, especially for navigation, content, and organization. The condition mentioned will affect the usability point on the site due to discrepancy between the user expectation and the actual provided content on the site.
