Abstract

Tanah yang mengandung abu vulkanik dari Gunung Kelud mengandung unsur hara dalam bentuk yang tidak tersedia bagi tanah. Abu vulkanik Gunung Kelud tersebut mengandung berbagai macam unsur seperti S, Al, Fe, pH yang masam, dan unsur N, C, K, dan Na yang rendah, sehingga tanah sulit untuk diolah. Salah satu upaya untuk mengatasinya adalah dengan aplikasi bahan organik yang dapat meningkatkan ketersediaan hara dalam tanah dan mampu memperbaiki pertumbuhan tanaman. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi kompos terhadap serapan kalium pada terdampak erupsi Gunung Kelud, (2) mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi kompos terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman bawang merah pada tanah terdampak erupsi Gunung Kelud. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Kimia Jurusan Tanah Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Brawijaya pada bulan Juni hingga Agustus 2017. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari K0= 100% pupuk anorganik; K1= 100% Kompos Kotoran Kambing; K2= 100% Kompos Sampah; K3= 50% pupuk anorganik + 50% Kompos Kotoran Kambing; K4= 50% pupuk anorganik + 50% Kompos Sampah. Variabel pengamatan meliputi pH, K-dd, Na-dd, C-organik, KTK tanah serta serapan kalium, serapan natrium, tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan, jumlah umbi, diameter umbi, berat segar umbi dan berat kering umbi. Hasil penelitian diuji dengan ANOVA dan selanjutnya diuji dengan DMRT dan korelasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi kompos sampah dan kompos kotoran kambing berpengaruh nyata terhadap serapan natrium (Na) tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap serapan kalium (K) pada tanaman bawang merah dibandingkan dengan aplikasi pupuk anorganik. Aplikasi aplikasi kompos sampah dan kompos kotoran kambing berpengaruh nyata meningkatkan tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun, tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah anakan, jumlah umbi, diameter umbi, berat segar, dan berat kering umbi tanaman bawang merah dibandingkan aplikasi pupuk anorganik. Aplikasi 20 ton ha-1 memberikan jumlah daun dan tinggi tanaman tertinggi, yaitu 67 dan 49,77 cm

English Abstract

The soil which contains volcanic ash from Mount Kelud contains nutrients in the form that is not available for the soil. The Mount Kelud volcanic ash contains various nutrients, such as S, Al, Fe, acid pH, N, C, K, and Na elements in low criteria. Therefore, it is difficult for soil to tillage. One of the efforts to solve this problem was by applying organic matter that could improve the availability of the nutrient in the soil as well as improve the plant growth. The purpose of this research were: (1) To evaluate the effect of compost application on potassium uptake at soil affected by Mount Kelud eruption, (2) To evaluate the effect of compost application on growth and production of red onion plant in soil affected by Mount Kelud eruption. This research was conducted at Chemical Laboratory of Soil Department, Agriculture Faculty, Brawijaya University; in June until August 2017. This research used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment consisted of K0= 100% inorganic fertilizer; K1= 100% goat manure compost; K2= 100% waste compost; K3= 50% inorganic fertilizer + 50% goat manure compost; K4= 50% inorganic fertilizer + 50% waste compost. The variables which were observed were pH, K-exc, Naexc, C-organic and CEC of soil. In addition, potassium uptake, sodium uptake, plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, number of bulbs, the diameter of bulbs, fresh weight of bulbs and dry weight of bulbs were also observed. The data was analyzed by ANOVA test, and then it was tested by DMRT and correlation test. The research results showed that the application of waste compost and goat manure compost significantly affected the sodium uptake, but it did not significantly affect the potassium uptake on red onion plant compared with inorganic fertilizer application. Furthermore, the application of waste compost and goat manure compost significantly affected the plant height and the number of leaves, but it did not significantly affect the number of tillers, the number of bulbs, the diameter of bulbs, fresh weight of bulbs, and the dry weight of bulbs of red onion plant compared with inorganic fertilizer application. Application of 20 ton ha-1 of goat manure compost gave the highest number of leaves and plant height, respectively 67 and 49,77 cm.
