Abstract

English Abstract

Geothermal energy is a source of heat that occurs naturally in the subsurface. One of the geothermal potential in East Java is located in Vilalage of Blawan, Sempol, Bondowoso Regency, which is known as geothermal Blawan - Ijen. To find a geothermal potential of an area it is necessary to do some research on subsurface conditions. Research using geoelectric resistivity method and georadar has been performed to estimate the distribution of hot springs. This current study wich was conducted in May 2013 shows that there are 21 hot springs manifestations in Blawan - Ijen. Each of these hot springs have a temperature less than 50 0C. The data of resistivity indicates that the layer containing hot water is permeable layer, with a resistivity value of less than 40 ohm meter. The interpretation is based on the reaction of rocks to the electrical current injected. Resistivity values observed in this study is the low resistivity values are interpreted as rocks containing water. Georadar method used in this study as the data supporting the results of geoelectric resistivity. Georadar method is sending a signal in the form of electromagnetic waves into the subsurface to obtain data such as pictures that show the characteristics of the subsurface. The advantage of the method is the ability georadar tool in detecting conductive rock layer. Georadar results in this study indicate that subsurface conditions is a wet area containing water, and dry areas are solid and do not contain water. There are 9 location data showed that the distribution of hot water based on the data resistivity and georadar in Blawan is distributed following the existing fractures. Direction distribution of hot springs are heading to the Northeast following the river flow pattern with lower topography.
