Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan keberhasilan vertikultur sciophytes lokal pada batang besar dan kecil serta menentukan peningkatan green coverage dan estetika Kebun Botani JBUB. Variabel bebas berupa batang pohon besar kecil dengan ulangan sebanyak lima kali. Variabel terikat berupa green coverage dan estetika vertikultur. Vertikultur batang besar dibuat dengan pot berbahan dasar karung goni, sedangkan vertikultur batang kecil dibuat dengan pot berbahan dasar karung goni dan limbah kelapa. Setiap pot perlakuan diisi media dan ditanami sciophytes sesuai rancangan. Data perkembangan tanaman vertikultur diamati pada dua, empat, delapan dan sepuluh minggu. Pengukuran green coverage dilakukan pada dua, empat, delapan dan sepuluh minggu setelah penanaman, sedangkan estetika dievaluasi dengan kuesioner pada empat, delapan dan dua belas minggu setelah penanaman. Data time series dari green coverage vertikultur dianalisis two-way ANOVA dan hasil kuesioner dianalisis secara multivariate menggunakan analisis biplot dengan software PAST. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa green coverage pada perlakuan batang besar dan kecil bervariasi sesuai waktu pengamatan. Green coverage vertikultur tertinggi pada batang besar dicatat di pengamatan terakhir sebesar 338 cm2, sedangkan pada batang kecil 134 cm2. Estetika rancangan berfluktuasi setiap pengamatan. Pada evaluasi pertama, 84% responden menilai vertikultur batang besar dengan baik hingga sangat baik. Sebaliknya, pada evaluasi kedua dan ketiga, estetika rancangan vertikultur batang kecil lebih baik dari pada batang besar. Perbaikan rancangan vertikultur pada batang besar dengan tanaman epifit sangat diperlukan.
English Abstract
The objectives of this study were to determine the success of local sciophytes verticulture on big and small trunks, and to determine the green coverage and increasing aesthetics of Biology Department Botanical Garden. Five replications of verticulture were applied in big trunks (BB) and small ones (BK). Observed variables included green coverage and aesthetics of verticulture in the trunk. Big trunk verticulture was developed from pots of gunny sack, while small trunk one was installed some pots of gunny sack and coco-waste. Each pot was filled by suitable medium and planted by sciophytes based on the design. Sciophytes growth on verticulture was observed on two, four, eight and ten weeks after verticulture establishment. Green coverage was measured after two, four, eight and ten weeks of growth. Design’s aesthetics was evaluated after four, eight and twelve weeks. Time series data of green coverage were analyzed using two-way ANOVA, while aesthetics data were analyzed using biplot analysis of PAST. The result showed that variation of green coverage of both treatments varied during observation. The highest coverage were recorded on last observation, it reached 338 cm2 on big trunk and 134 cm2 small one. Aesthetics fluctuated on every observations. On the first evaluation, 84% respondent assessed good to very good scores on big trunk verticulture. However on the second and third evaluation, aesthetics of small trunk verticulture was better than another. Therefore, improvement of verticulture design on big trunk by epiphytic plant was necessary.
