Abstract

Hopea sangal Korth. merupakan pohon penghasil kayu yang kini keberadaannya jarang ditemukan di Jawa Timur, sehingga informasi tentang Hopea sangal terutama ciri anatomi baru sedikit diketahui. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk memenuhi kurangnya data pada morfologi dan anatomi daun dan ranting Hopea sangal. Pengamatan dilakukan pada daun dan ranting yang diambil dari sepuluh individu pohon dari nursery Kebun Raya Purwodadi. Morfologi daun Hopea sangal di Kebun Raya Purwodadi yakni memiliki susunan daun alternate, tipe daun tunggal, bentuk pertulangan daun scalariform, bentuk daun jorong (ovalis), bentuk tangkai daun silinder, bentuk pangkal daun membulat, bentuk tepi daun rata, daging daun coriaceous, permukaan daun licin, dengan bentuk ujung daun meruncing. Rata-rata panjang dan lebar daun Hopea sangal yakni 12,45±0,86 cm dan 6,96±0,5 cm. Morfologi ranting Hopea sangal berwarna cokelat tua, permukaan batang licin (laevis), corak kayu polos, tekstur kayu halus, kesan raba agak licin, kekerasan kayu agak keras. Rata-rata kerapatan stomata 235,32±27,6 stomata/mm2 dengan panjang dan lebar 2±1,71 dan 0,86±1 μm. Ketebalan daun rata-rata 150,18±12,87 μm, terdiri dari jaringan epidermis atas 20,27±2,94 μm, palisade 44,08±10,35 μm, spons 74,82±9,15 μm, dan epidermis bawah 10,82±1,17 μm. Perbandingan tebal epidermis:floem:xilem:empulur adalah 1:20:40:20. Trakea tergolong semi-ring porous, distribusi soliter, beberapa bergabung radial 2-4 sel, diameter rata-rata 35,91±5,86 μm.

English Abstract

Hopea sangal Korth., one of the log producing trees, is now rare to found in Jawa Timur, hence the information about Hopea sangal is still lacking especially in its anatomical characteristic. The aim of this research was to complete the morphological and anatomical data of Hopea sangal leaves and twigs. Leaves and twigs were taken from ten Hopea sangal trees from the nursery of Kebun Raya Purwodadi. The morphological characteristics of the Hopea sangal leaves in Kebun Raya Purwodadi is alternate arrangement, simple leaf type, scalariform venation, ovalis shape, cylinder petiole, rounded base, entire margin, coriaceous, smooth surface, and acuminate tip. The average length and width of the Hopea sangal leaves are 12,45±0,86 cm and 9,69±0,5 cm, respectively. The morphological characteristics of Hopea sangal twigs is brown coloured, slightly smooth texture, and slightly hard. The average stomata density is 235,32±27,6 stomata/mm2 with length and width 2±1,71 and 0,86±1 μm, respectively. Average leaf thickness is 150,18±12,87 μm, composed of adaxial epidermis 20,27±2,94 μm, palisade layer 44,08±10,35 μm, sponge parenchyma 74,89±9,15 μm, and abaxial epidermis 10,82±1,17 μm. The epidermis:floem:xylem:pith thickness ratio is 1:20:40:20. The trachea characteristic is semi-ring porous, solitary distribution with 2-4 radial cell clustered, and the average diameter is 35,9±5,86 μm.
