Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh konsentrasi eluen (HCl) dan volume sampel pada ekstraksi fasa padat menggunakan biomassa Azolla microphylla yang diamobilisasi dalam polimer Ca–alginat. Ekstraksi fasa padat dilakukan dengan menggunakan kolom mini (cartridge) dengan tinggi 10 cm dan diameter 1 cm yang diisi dengan 1 g biomassa A. microphylla-alginat ukuran 20–40 mesh. Percobaan adsorpsi dilakukan dengan mengalirkan 50 mL larutan kadmium(II) 1 mg/L melalui kolom. Kadmium(II) yang tertahan dalam kolom dielusi dengan 5 mL larutan HCl dengan variasi konsentrasi HCl 1 M; 2 M; 3 M; 4 M; dan 5 M. Pada kajian pengaruh volume sampel, percobaan adsorpsi dilakukan dengan variasi volume sampel 25 mL (2 mg/L); 50 mL (1 mg/L); 75 mL (0,66 mg/L); 100 mL (0,5 mg/L); dan 125 mL (0,4 mg/L). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi eluen larutan HCl optimum adalah 2 M dengan prosentase recovery kadmium(II) sebesar 65,01%. Volume sampel berpengaruh nyata terhadap ekstraksi fasa padat kadmium(II) menggunakan biomassa A.microphylla-alginat.
English Abstract
This research studied about effects of eluent (HCl) concentration and sample volume on solid phase extraction of cadmium(II) using biomass of Azolla microphylla immobilized in calcium alginate polymer. Solid phase extraction was performed using mini column (cartridge) with a height of 10 cm and a diameter of 1 cm filled with 1 g of biomass of A. microphylla-alginate of 20-40 mesh. Adsorption experiments were carried out by passing 50 mL of 1 mg/L cadmium(II) solution through the column. Cadmium(II) which was retained in the column was eluted with 5 mL HCl solution with various concentrations of 1 M; 2 M; 3 M; 4 M; and 5 M. In the study of sample volume effect, adsorption experiments were conducted with variations in sample volume of 25 mL (2 mg / L); 50 mL (1 mg / L); 75 mL (0.66 mg / L); 100 mL (0.5 mg / L); and 125 mL (0.4 mg / L). The results showed that the optimum concentration of 2 M HCl eluent solution with the percentage of cadmium(II) recovery was 65.01%. Sample volumes significantly affected the solid phase extraction of cadmium(II) using biomass of A.microphylla-alginate.
