Abstract
Telah dilakukan eksplorasi senyawa-senyawa p-mentan-3-ol melalui reaksi katalitik terhadap sitronelal menggunakan katalis Cu/ZnBr2/γ-Al2O3 dan atmosfer gas N2 dan H2. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap, yaitu preparasi katalis ZnBr2/γ-Al2O3 10% dan Cu/ZnBr2/γ-Al2O3 10%, karakterisasi katalis, dan reaksi katalitik. Katalis dikarakterisasi dengan XRD dan SEM-EDX, sedangkan produk yang dihasilkan dari reaksi katalitik diidentifikasi dengan Kromatografi Gas (KG) dan Kromatografi Gas-Spektra Massa (KG-MS). Berdasarkan analisis menggunakan XRD dan SEM-EDX dapat diketahui bahwa Cu telah terimpregnasi dengan baik pada ZnBr2/γ-Al2O3. Katalis diujikan pada reaksi katalitik pada temperatur 90 oC dan 120 oC selama 5 jam dengan perbandingan waktu atmosfer gas N2:H2 = 1:4 dan 3:2. Konversi sitronelal terbaik yaitu 71, 84% dengan kondisi perbandingan atmosfer gas N2:H2 = 3:2 pada temperatur 120 oC di menit ke 300 (5 jam). Produk p-mentan-ol yang dihasilkan merupakan isopulegol dengan selektivitas 12, 75% yang diperoleh pada kondisi atmosfer gas N2:H2 = 3:2 pada temperatur 120 oC dengan waktu reaksi selama 4 jam.
English Abstract
An exploration of p-menthane-3-ol has been carried out via catalytic reactions towards citronellal using a Cu/ZnBr2/γ-Al2O3 catalyst and N2 and H2 atmospheric gases. The research was carried out in several stages, namely preparation of 10 % ZnBr2/γ-Al2O3 and 10% Cu/ZnBr2/γ-Al2O3 catalyst, catalyst characterization, and catalytic reactions. The catalysts were characterized by XRD and SEM-EDX, whereas the products of the catalytic reaction were identified by Gas Chromatography (GC) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectra (GC-MS). Based on analysis using XRD and SEM-EDX known that Cu has been impregnated with either the ZnBr2/γ-Al2O3. Catalyst was tested in the catalytic reaction at a temperature of 90 °C and 120 °C for 5 hours with a ratio of time N2: H2 atmospheric gas of 1:4 and 3:2. Best citronellal conversion at 71, 84 % with atmospheric gases comparison conditions N2: H2 = 3:2 at a temperature of 120 °C to 300 minutes (5 hours). Product p-menhtane-3-ol produced an isopulegol with selectivity 12, 75 % were obtained at atmospheric gas conditions N2: H2 = 3:2 at a temperature of 120 ° C with a reaction time of 4 hours.
