Abstract

Pada penelitian ini dibahas tentang pengaruh pH dan konsentrasi awal larutan metilen biru pada degradasi zat warna metilen biru dengan fotokatalis TiO2-bentonit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pH awal larutan metilen biru terhadap laju degradasi metilenbiru. Variasi pH awal yang digunakan adalah 3, 5, 7, 9, dan 11; dan konsentrasi awal yang digunakan adalah 5, 10, 15, dan 20 mg/L. Larutan metilen biru sebanyak 25 mL ditambahkan 25 mg TiO2-bentonit dengan kadar 0,5 mmol/g bentonite disinari menggunakan sinar ultraviolet selama 10, 20, 30, 40, dan 50 menit. Konsentrasi metilen biru setelah degradasi ditentukan menggunakan spektronik-20. Laju degradasi metilen biru dinyatakan dalam suatu kurva konstanta laju degradasi dan penurunan konsentrasi metilen biru sebagai fungsi lama penyinaran sinar ultraviolet. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi pH awal memberikan konstantalaju yang berbeda, konstanta laju degradasi meningkat dari pH 3 hingga pH 11. Konstanta Laju degradasi metilen biru optimum pada pH awal 11 dan konsentrasi awal 5mg/L dengan nilai konstanta laju degradasi sebesar 0,0256 menit-1.

English Abstract

This research has studied the effect of Methylene blue solution initial Ph and concentration on the degradation of Methylene blue dye with bentonite-TiO2 photocatalyst. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of metilen biru solution initial pH on the rate of Methylene blue degradation. Furthermore, this research also aims to determine the effect of metilen biru initial concentration at the optimum initial pH on the rate of Methylene blue photodegradation with bentonite-TiO2 photocatalyst. The condition of pH was varied at 3. 5, 7, 9, 11 and concentration was varied at 5, 10, 15, 20 mg/L. Thesolution of Methylene blue 25mg added in 25mL TiO2-tentonit with compotition0,5mmol/g bentonitehas been irradiated using UV-light for 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 minutes. Methylene blue concentration after degradation was determined using spectronic – 20. The rate of degradation is presented in acurve between the rate constant and decreased of Methylene blue concentration as a function of radiation time. The results showed that the condition of pH produced various rates in which the reaction rate work increasingly from acidic to base condition. Theoptimum rate of Methylene blue degradation wasobtained at pH 11 and at initial concentration 5 mg/L with value0,0256 menit-1
