Abstract
Elektroda Selektif Ion (ESI) kadmium tipe kawat terlapis dibuat menggunakan bahan aktif D2EHPA, campuran polivinilklorida (PVC) sebagai bahan pendukung, Dibutylphthalate (DBP) sebagai bahan pemlastis, dengan perbandingan D2EHPA : PVC : DBP = 16 : 28 : 56 dilarutkan dalam pelarut tetrahidrofuran (THF) (1:3 b/v). ESI cadmium menunjukkan harga faktor Nernst 27,26 mV/dekade konsentrasi. Rentang konsentrasi 1x10-5 – 1x10-1 M, limit deteksi 6,61x10-6 M atau 0,317 ppm waktu respon 40 detik dan usia pakai 42 hari. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari pengaruh ion asing terhadap kinerja Elektroda Selektif Ion (ESI) cadmium tipe kawat terlapis berbasis D2EHPA serta mengaplikasikannya pada penentuan kadar cadmium dalam air sungai. Pengaruh ion asing dilakukan dengan menentukan koefisien selektivitas (Ki,j) menggunakan metode larutan tercampur. Larutan yang diukur mengandung ion utama Cd2+dengan rentang konsentrasi 1x10-5 – 1x10-1 M dan ion asing Hg2+dan Cu2+dengan konsentrasi tetap 1x10-3 M. Aplikasi pada penentuan kadar kadmium secara potensiometri menggunakan ESI kadmium, hasilnya dibandingkan dengan metode standar AAS menggunakan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keberadaan ion asing Hg2+ dan Cu2+ tidak mempengaruhi kinerja ESI kadmium. Urutan selektivitas ESI kadmium sesuai dengan Cd2+ > Hg2+ > Cu2+, Berdasarkan hasil uji t pengukuran kadmium menggunakan ESI kadmium tidak berbeda secara bermakna dengan hasil pengukuran secara AAS sehingga ESI dapat digunakan sebagai metoda alternatif untuk pengukuran kadar kadmium dalam air sungai disamping metoda AAS.
English Abstract
Coated wire cadmium ion selective electrode (Cd CWE) were made using D2EHPA as an active ingredients, supported by a mixture Polyvinylchloride (PVC) polymer, Dibutylphthalate (DBP) plasticizer with a ratio (% weight) of D2EHPA: PVC: DBP = 16: 28: 56 dissolved in tetrahydrofuran (THF) (1:3 w/v) solvent. Cadmium CWE showed Nernstian character with Nernst factor price of 27.26 mV/decade of concentration in the concentration range of 1x10-5 - 1x10-1 M, detection limit of 6.61 x 10-6 M or 0.317 ppm, the response time of 40 seconds and a life time of 42 days. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of foreign ions on the performance of cadmium CWE and its application in the determination of cadmium ion in river water. Effect of foreign ions were determined by determining the selectivity coefficient (Ki,j) membrane using a mixed solution method in which the concentration of Cd2+ ion were from 1x10-5 to 1x10-1 M while foreign ions Hg2+ and Cu2+ were in fixed concentration of 1x10-3 M. Cadmium CWE were applied in the determination of cadmium ion in river water samples using potentiometric method and the result were compared to the Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) method using statistical t student.The results showed the presence of foreign ions Hg2+ and Cu2+ does not interfere the performance of cadmium CWE, the selectivity sequence: Cd2+> Hg2+> Cu2+. Based on the statistical t test showed CWE no significantly different compared to that from AAS method. So that Cadmium CWE can be considered as an alternative method for determine of cadmium levels in river water.
