Abstract
Telah dilakukan penelitian yang mengkaji kemampuan biomassa kiambang ( Salvinia molesta ) dalam mengadsorpsi fosfat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh jumlah adsorben dan waktu kontak terhadap adsorpsi fosfat. Kiambang dikeringkan dalam oven dan dijadikan serbuk dengan ukuran partikel lolos saring 120 mesh. Penentuan pengaruh jumlah adsorben terhadap adsorpsi fosfat dilakukan pada variasi jumlah 0,02; 0,04; 0,10; 0,20; 0,30; 0,40; 0,50; dan 1,00 gram. Penentuan waktu kontak adsorpsi dilakukan pada variasi 5, 10, 20, 30, 60, dan 120 menit. Konsentrasi fosfat yang digunakan adalah 0,8 ppm. Penentuan konsentrasi fosfat sebelum dan setelah adsorpsi dilakukan menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis dengan metode Timah (II) Klorida. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi optimum adsorpsi fosfat dicapai pada jumlah adsorben 0,2 gram dan waktu kontak 10 menit.
English Abstract
The ability of kiambang ( Salvinia molesta ) biomass to adsorp phosphate has been investigated. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of adsorbent quantity and contact time on the adsorption of phosphate. Kiambang was oven dried and made powder with particle size of get away filter 120 mesh. The effect of adsorbent quantity on the adsorption of phosphate was investigated at various adsorbent quantities 0.02; 0.04; 0.10; 0.20; 0.30; 0.40; 0.50; and 1.00 gram. The effect of contact time was observed at 5, 10, 20, 30, 60, and 120 minutes. The consentrations of phosphate has been used of 0.8 ppm. Phosphate consentrations before and after adsorption were determined by using UV-Vis spectrophotometer with Stannous Chloride method. Results showed that optimum condition of adsorption was reached at 0.2 gram of adsorbent quantity and contact time of 10 minutes.
