Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang bioplastik dari gelatin, pati ubi kayu dan agar-agar, dengan sorbitol dan gliserol sebagai pemlastis. Bioplastik dibuat dengan menggunakan metode blending . Penelitian ini mempelajari pengaruh komposisi gelatin dan pati ubi kayu terhadap sifat mekanik dan ketahanan kimia bioplastik. Rasio biopolimer dengan pemlastis yaitu 3:2. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menvariasi komposisi gelatin dan pati ubi kayu dengan rasio gelatin dan pati ubi kayu yaitu : tanpa gelatin, 1:5, 2:4, 3:3, 4:2, 5:1 dan tanpa pati ubi kayu. Karakterisasi bahan yang dilakukan meliputi uji mekanik (terbatas pada kuta tarik dan persen pemanjangan) dan uji ketahanan kimia pada air, alkohol, larutan NaOH dan HCl encer. Hasil karkaterisasi mekanik belum menunjukkan pengaruh komposisi gelatin dan pati ubi kayu terhadap sifat mekanik bioplastik karena ketidakseragaman ketebalan sampel antar komposisi. Ketebalan sampel berada dalam range 0.190 – 0.280 mm (0.230 ± 0.050 mm). Perlakuan suhu 5º dan 45 oC pada bioplastik menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan suhu 5ºC menurunkan nilai kuat tarik dan perlakuan suhu 45oC meningkatkan nilai kuat tariknya. Perlakuan suhu 5º dan 45oC pada bioplastik tidak terlalu memberikan pengaruh terhadap nilai persen pemanjangannya. Hasil karakterisasi ketahanan kimia menunjukkan bahwa bioplastik dapat larut dalam air, alkohol, larutan NaOH dan HCl encer.
English Abstract
This research was about bioplastics made from gelatin, cassava starch, agar, with sorbitol and glicerol as plasticizers. Bioplastics were made by blending method. This research studied the influence of gelatin and cassava starch to the mechanical properties and chemical resistance of bioplastics. The ratio of biopolymers and plasticizers was 3:2. In this research, it was done by varying composition of gelatin and cassava starch in ratio no gelatin, 1:5, 2:4, 3:3, 4:2, 5:1 and no cassava starch. Material characterizations that done were mechanical (involve tensile strength and ultimate elongation) and chemical resistance tests of water, 96% alcohol, 40% NaOH and HCl. The mechanical tests had not showed the influence of gelatin and cassava starch to the mechanical properties of bioplastics. It was caused of thickness difference of samples among compositions. The thickness difference was in range 0.190-0.280 mm (0.230 ± 0.050 mm). Temperature treatment of bioplastics on 5º and 45 oC, showed that 5ºC decreased the tensile strength of bioplastics and 45oC increased their tensile strength. But, the temperature treatment did not show any significant influence to their ultimate elongation values. The chemical resistance tests of bioplastics showed that they could dissolve in water, alcohol, NaOH and HCl.
