Abstract
Telah dipelajari pengaruh konsentrasi dan suhu larutan pengendap pada metode pembalikan fasa terhadap karakteristik membran asimetris kitosan berpendukung selulosa. Pada penelitian ini digunakan larutan NaOH dengan konsentrasi 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, dan 5% sebagai larutan pengendap, masing-masing pada suhu 30 0C, 400C, dan 500C. Adapun karakteristik membran dinyatakan sebagai fluks air dan koefisien rejeksi terhadap ion fosfat. Konsentrasi ion fosfat dalam permeat dan konsentrat ditentukan dengan metode spektrofotometri. Hasil penelitian yang didukung uji statistik menggunakan Analisis Ragam dengan α =0,05 menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi dan suhu larutan pengendap mempunyai pengaruh pada karakteristik membran kitosan. Peningkatan konsentrasi larutan pengendap menyebabkan fluks air menurun sedangkan koefisien rejeksi meningkat hingga konsentrasi larutan pengendap 4% kemudian menurun pada konsentrasi 5%. Peningkatan suhu larutan pengendap menyebabkan fluks air meningkat sedangkan koefisien rejeksi menurun. Koefisien rejeksi tertinggi diperoleh pada konsentrasi larutan pengendap 4% dengan suhu 400C dengan nilai 33,58%.
English Abstract
The characteristics of asymmetric chitosan membrane supported by cellulose, as the effect of coagulation solution concentration and temperature in phase inversion methods has been studied. In this research, NaOH solution which concentration were 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% used as a coagulation solution at 30 0C, 400C, and 500C for each concentration. The characteristics of membrane expressed as water flux and rejection coefficient towards phosphate ion. The concentration of phosphate ion in permeate and concentrate were determined spectrophotometrically. The result, analysis by Analysis of Variance at α = 0,05 showed that both of concentration and temperature have influence on the characteristics of chitosan membrane. As the concentration of coagulation solution increased, water flux tend to decrease while rejection coefficient increased until its concentration 4% then decreased at 5%. Increasing of the coagulation solution temperature cause water flux tend to increase whereas rejection coefficient decrease. The highest rejection coefficient is 33,58%, obtained at its concentration 4% and temperature 400C.
