Abstract
Industri merupakan salah satu kegiatan ekonomi yang cukup strategis untuk meningkatkan pendapatan dan perekonomian masyarakat secara cepat, namun limbah yang dihasilkan dapat mencemari lingkungan jika tidak dikelola dengan baik dan benar. Salah satu jenis pencemaran yang terjadi adalah pencemaran yang disebabkan oleh limbah industri Rumah Pemotongan Hewan (RPH) yang menghasilkan limbah cair dengan kandungan zat organik sangat tinggi. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, maka diperlukan suatu teknologi pengolahan limbah yang tepat untuk mengurangi tingkat bahaya yang ditimbulkan dari limbah cair RPH, salah satu teknologinya yaitu dengan constructed wetland menggunakan tumbuhan kana (Canna indica L.). Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui efisiensi sistem constructed wetland dengan tanaman kana terhadap penurunan konsentrasi BOD dan COD pada limbah RPH serta mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan media tanam terhadap penurunan konsentrasi BOD dan COD limbah cair RPH. Hasil penelitian terhadap pengolahan limbah cair RPH dengan constructed wetland yang dianalisis menggunakan metode eksperimental dan rancangan percobaan RAL yang disusun dalam tiga ulangan diketahui bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh yang nyata dari perbedaan penggunaan media tanam yaitu kerikil dan karbon + kerikil terhadap penurunan kandungan bahan pencemar, baik BOD maupun COD. Namun jika dilihat dari besarnya nilai persentase efisiensi penurunan kadar bahan pencemar (BOD dan COD), maka dapat dikatakan bahwa media tanam kerikil lebih efisien dibandingkan dengan media tanam arang + kerikil. Selain itu, selama 20 hari pengolahan limbah cair RPH dengan metode constructed wetland terlihat bahwa pada hari ke 5 terjadi penurunan kadar bahan pencemar yang cukup tajam, dan berangsur-angsur menurun hingga hari ke 20.
English Abstract
Industry is one of the strategic economic activities to boost public revenues and the economy rapidly, but the effluent can pollute the environment if not managed properly. One type of pollution that occurs is the pollution caused by abattoir industrial waste that generate wastewater with high organic matter content. Based on these problems, we need a proper sewage treatment technology to reduce their hazard level of abattoir wastewater, one of them is constructed wetland by using kana plant (Canna indica L.). The purpose of this study is to determine the efficiency of constructed wetland system with kana plants on reducing BOD and COD concentrations at abattoir wastewater and determine the effect of different planting media on decreasing the concentration of BOD and COD abattoir wastewater. Results of a study of abattoir wastewater treatment with a constructed wetland were analyzed using experimental methods and experimental design RAL arranged in three replications in mind that there is no real influence of differences in the use of the planting media are gravel and charcoal + gravel on reducing the content of contaminants, both BOD or COD. However, if x viewed from the value of the efficiency percentage decreased levels of pollutants (BOD and COD), it can be said that the gravel is more efficient than charcoal + gravel. In addition, during the 20-day abattoir wastewater treatment with a constructed wetland method seen that on day 5 decreased levels of pollutants are quite sharp, and gradually declined until the 20th day.
