Abstract
Filtrasi adalah pemisahan bahan secara mekanis berdasarkan ukuran partikelnya. Salah satu teknologi yang digunakan dalam proses filtrasi adalah teknologi membran. Salah satu jenis membran yang digunakan untuk proses filtrasi adalah jenis membran kitosan selulosa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sifat mekanik dari membran kitosan selulosa. Membran kitosan selulosa dibuat menggunakan metode coating dan selanjutnya proses perendaman dan pengeringan. Sintesis membran kitosan dilakukan dengan teknik inversi fasa, yaitu dengan proses rendam endap. Pada larutan dope, digunakan kitosan dengan variasi konsentrasi 6%, 7%, 8%, 9% (b/v). Karakterisasi membran meliputi sifat mekanik membran yaitu uji kuat tekan, kuat tarik, dengan menggunakan penetrasimeter dan sifat morfologi ukuran pori dengan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Pada penelitian pembuatan dan karakterisasi membran pada preparasi membran kitosan selulosa dengan pengaruh konsentrasi kitosan, nilai kuat tekan membran tertinggi terdapat pada membran kitosan selulosa dengan konsentrasi kitosan 9% dan lama pengadukan 48 jam sebesar 3,86 Kg/cm2. Nilai permeabilitas membran kitosan selulosa terbesar terdapat pada membran dengan konsentrasi kitosan 9% dan lama pengadukan 24 jam yaitu sebesar 456,50 ml/menit. Hasil uji Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) menunjukan bahwa berdasarkan ukuran porinya membran yang dihasilkan tergolong dalam membran konvensional filtrasi (10 μm - 100 μm) yaitu 23 μm untuk terkecil dan 47 μm untuk yang terbesar.
English Abstract
Filtration is the mechanical separation of material based on particle size. One of technologies that is used in filtration process is membran technology. One type of membranes that is used for filtration process is celluose chitosan membrane. This research aim to determine mechanical characteristic of cellulose chitosan membrane. Cellulose chitosan membrane was made by using coating method, then by using immersion and drying process. Synthesis of chitosan membrane was conducted by using phase inversion technique that was immersion-sedimentation process. In dope solution, chitosan was used by different concentration, which were 6%, 7%, 8%, 9% (w/v). Membrane characterization include mechanic characteristic which were compressive strength analysis and tensile strength analysis. The analysis was conducted by using penatrisimeter and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) for morphology and charachter of pore size. From this research, the highest impressive strength was 3,86 Kg/cm2 obtained in celluosechitosan membrane of 9% concentration and stirring process for 48 hours. The highest permeability value was 456, 50 mI/minutes, which was obtained in celluose-chitosan membrane of 9% and stirring process for 24 hours. Based on membrane pore size of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) result, chitosan membran of this research was included in microfiltration membrane (0,1 μm-10μm).
