Abstract
Limbah merupakan salah satu dampak yang ditimbulkan dari berbagai aktivitas manusia, baik dari kegiatan industri, pertanian, maupun kegiatan rumah tangga. Di Indonesia, sumber penghasil limbah cair terbesar berasal dari aktivitas rumah tangga yang menghasilkan limbah toilet maupun limbah non-toilet. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suatu metode penanganan yang tepat untuk mengolah limbah cair domestik. Salah satu metode yang dapat diterapkan adalah fitoremediasi, yakni penggunaan tanaman tertentu untuk mendegradasi bahan pencemar yang terdapat dalam limbah cair. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan tanaman kayu apu (Pistia stratiotes L.) yang ditanam dengan menggunakan teknik hidroponik DFT (Deep Flow Technique) untuk mengolah limbah cair domestik yang diambil dari MCK Terpadu Tlogomas Malang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan tanaman kayu apu dengan sistem DFT, pengaruh lama waktu retensi serta pemberian aerasi terhadap parameter BOD, COD, TSS, pH, serta kandungan minyak dan lemak. Penelitian ini menggunakan sistem recirculating batch. Analisa parameter limbah cair dilakukan di awal dan akhir setelah proses pengolahan. Penelitian dirancang berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial (SK=95%) dengan 2 faktor perlakuan, yaitu lama waktu retensi 3hari (A3) dan 6 hari (A6) serta pemberian aerasi B1 (tanpa penambahan aerasi) dan B2 (dengan penambahan aerasi) dimana pada setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan lama waktu retensi 6 hari dengan penambahan aerasi (A6B2) paling efisien dalam pengolahan limbah cair domestik. Efisiensi penurunan maksimal terhadap nilai COD 65,06%, TSS 19,99%, serta minyak dan lemak sebesar 37,10%. Sedangkan untuk nilai BOD terjadi peningkatan sampai 45,35% dikarenakan adanya tanaman yang mati dan akar tanaman yang rontok sehingga menambah kandungan bahan organik dalam air limbah.
English Abstract
Waste is one of the impacts arising from various human activities, both from industrial activity, agriculture, as well as the household activities. At Indonesia, the largest source of liquid waste derived from household activity that produces a toilet and non-toilet waste (greywater). Therefore, it required an appropriate handling methods to proccessing greywater. One method that can be applied is phytoremediation, it was the use of certain plants to degrades material contaminant contained in liquid waste. In this research was used Pistia stratiotes L. planting with DFT (Deep flow technique) hydroponic system for the treatment of greywater taken from MCK Terpadu Tlogomas Malang. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of the use of Pistia stratiotes L. with DFT system, the influence of long retention time as well as providing aeration for the parameters of BOD, COD, TSS, pH, as well as oils and fats. This research using a recirculating batch system. Analysis of the greywater parameters conducted at the beginnin and the end after treatment. This research designed based on the Randomized Factorial Blok Design (SK=5%) with 2 factors including long retention time 3 days (A3) and 6 days (A6) and providing aeration B1 (without addition of aeration) and B2 (with the addition of aeration) where in each treatment was repeated three times. The results showed that treatment of long retention time 6 days with the addition of aeration (A6B2) is most efficient in domestic liquid waste processing. Maximum reduction efficiencies of COD 65,06% , TSS 19.99%, as well as oils and fats of 37,10%. As for the value of BOD increase 45,35% due to plants that die and the root crops that loss so that adds to the content of organic matter in the waste water.
