Abstract
Jumlah mahasiswa di Filkom Universitas Brawijaya setiap tahunnya semakin bertambah. Seiring dengan itu pertumbuhan ini tidak didukung dengan sarana laboratorium yang mencukupi. Permasalahan ini membuat mahasiswa harus berbagi jadwal untuk menggunakan laboratorium. Disamping itu daya tampung laboratorium yang terbatas membuat mahasiswa yang melaksanakan praktikum kurang nyaman dalam menerima materi praktikum. Dengan demikian diperlukan sebuah sistem yang dapat mengatasi masalah tersebut tanpa mengurangi pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap materi yang diberikan seperti pada saat perkuliahan ataupun praktikum. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk merancang dan membuat sistem antarmuka laboratorium virtual jaringan komputer yang menawarkan solusi akan terbatasnya daya tampung laboratorium, efektivitas waktu, serta aksesibilitas yang lebih luas. Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan, sistem yang dibangun mampu memberikan efektivitas waktu dan biaya serta daya tampung yang lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan metode praktikum konvensional. Sistem ini mempunyai fungsi membuat kelas, menambah materi praktikum, membuat dan mengakses mesin virtual serta penilaian untuk praktikum yang telah dilakukan oleh mahasiswa. Terdapat juga fungsi monitoring mesin virtual, sehingga asisten maupun dosen dapat melihat pekerjaan yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa. Dari pengujian yang dilakukan pada jaringan lokal, sistem ini mampu memberikan respons dalam waktu rata-rata kurang dari 1 detik. Jumlah mesin virtual yang dipesan tidak berpengaruh terhadap waktu respons antarmuka karena pembuatan mesin virtual dikerjakan di balik layar oleh aplikasi back-end.
English Abstract
The amount of the students at Faculty of Computer Science always increase in every year. However, this increase is not supported with the amount of laboratory facilities which is needed by the students. This problem makes the students had to share the schedule for using the laboratory facilities. Moreover, the amount of capacity in laboratory room which is very limited make the students are not comfortable during the lesson. Based on the aforementioned problem, we propose a system which can help student during the practice without lessen the information given by the lecturer. The purpose of this research is designing and making a system of interface virtual laboratory computer networking which give the solution of the limited capacity in laboratory room, time effectiveness and also wider accessibility. Based on the result of the research, the researcher found that the system which has been made can give the student time and budget effectiveness and also can provide more spaces for the students to practice than using conventional method. This system has several functions which consists of; make a class, add a practice lesson, make and access the virtual machine and also make assessment for the practice which the students have done. Besides, it also has function as monitoring of the virtual machine that make the lecturer and lecturer’s assistant can see what the students have done during the practice. Based on the test that the researcher did in local network, this system has respond time about less than a second. The amount of the virtual machine is not affect to the respond time of the system because of the virtual machine was made by back–end application.
