Abstract
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) merupakan persyaratan mendasar bagi pelamar yang akan melanjutkan studi atau karirnya ke tahap selanjutnya. Tetapi rata-rata perguruan tinggi di Indonesia hanya mempersiapkan mahasiswanya dalam menjalani tes ini hanya dengan mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris yang hanya sebatas 2 hingga 3 SKS selama masa kuliahnya. Dibutuhkan sebuah sistem pembelajaran terutama sistem pembelajaran adaptif yang dapat menyesuaikan pembelajaran terhadap masing-masing pengguna yang memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda dalam pembelajaran TOEFL yang ada dengan menggunakan metode Item Response Theorydengan model logistik 3 parameter. Dengan sistem ini dapat membantu pengguna yang akan menjalani tes TOEFL khususnya para mahasiswa sesuai dengan karakteristik berupa kemampuannya yang menjadi parameter terhadap adaptasi materi yang terjadi pada sistem. Untuk melakukan estimasi pada kemampuan pengguna menggunakan maximum likelihood estimation (MLE), sedangkan untuk estimasi parameter materi dengan uji chi square of goodness of fit. Pada penelitian ini, dilakukan perbandingan estimasi parameter tingkat kesulitan materi antara metode uji chi square goodness of fit dengan pendekatan collaborative votingyang diusulkan oleh Chih-Ming Chen (2005). Hasil yang didapat pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa proses adaptasi dalam sistem pembelajaran TOEFL ini berjalan dengan baik, serta perbandingan antara uji chi square of goodness of fit dengan pendekatan collaborative voting menunjukkan deviasi sebesar 0.386.
English Abstract
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)is a basic requirement for appliance to continue their study or their carreer to the next step. But in fact, many universities in Indonesia prepared their student for TOEFL test only with the English course which is only have 2 or 3 credits during their college periods. It takes an adaptive learning system that can adjust the material course with different characteristics of user in TOEFL study using item response theory 3 parameters logistic model. The TOEFL adaptive learning system can help user who wants to take the TOEFL test, especially the students with their particular characteristics such as the ability level that used to be a parameter to adapt the materials of the system. To obtain the user’s ability, this study used the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE), while the chi square goodness of fit test is used to measure the item parameters. This study is compare the measure of parameter difficulty between the chi square goodness of fit and the collaborative voting approached by Chih-Ming Chen (2005).The result shows that the adaptation on this system is running well, and the comparation between the chi square of goodness of fit test and the approach of collaborative voting shows deviation of 0.386.
