Abstract

Minyak nilam memiliki manfaat dalam teknologi obat-obatan, makanan dan minuman. Minyak nilam dapat dihasilkan dari bagian daun, akar, batang dan bunga. Kebutuhan akan minyak nilam saat ini semakin meningkat, akan tetapi metode yang digunakan memerlukan waktu yang lama. Terdapat tiga metode destilasi, yaitu hydro distillation, steam-hydro distillation dan steam distillation.Pada penelitian ini, menggunakan metode microwave hydro distillation yang dimaksudkan agar rendemen yang di dapat lebih banyak daripada menggunakan metode konvensional. Bahan dalam penelitian ini adalah daun nilam yang sudah dikeringkan dengan kadar air sebesar 17%-24%. Variasi yang dilakukan di dalam penelitian ini adalah tekanan 1 Bar, 1,5 Bar dan 2 Bar serta daya 560 Watt dan 700 Watt serta kemudian dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional.Hasil penelitian ini didapat bahwa semakin besar tekanan dan daya yang digunakan pada microwave hydro distillation maka semakin semakin banyak volume minyak nilam yang dihasilkan. Pada metode microwave hydro distillation secara berturut turut pada daya 560 Watt dalam tekanan 1 Bar, 1,5 Bar dan 2 Bar yaitu sebesar 1,62 %, 1,76 %, 2,20 % dan pada daya 700 Watt yaitu sebesar 2,58 %, 2,92 %, 3,66% serta secara konvensional diperoleh rendemen minyak nilam sebesar 1,64 %, 1,96 %, 2,25 % .

English Abstract

Patchouli oil has benefits in medicine technology, food and beverage. Patchouli oil can be produced from the leaves, roots, stems and flowers. The need for patchouli oil is currently increasing, but the method used requires a long time. There are three methods of distillation, namely hydro distillation, steam distillation-hydro and steam distillation. In this study, using the microwave hydro distillation method which is intended to yield in the can more than using conventional methods. Material in this study are patchouli leaves dried to a moisture content of 17% -24%. Variations were performed in this study was a pressure of 1 bar, 1.5 bar and 2 bar and power 560 Watt and 700 Watt and then compared with the conventional method.The results of this study found that the greater the pressure and microwave power used in hydro-distillation, the more the more the volume of patchouli oil produced. In the microwave hydro distillation method in consecutive at 560 Watt power in a pressure of 1 bar, 1.5 bar and 2 bar that is equal to 1.62%, 1.76%, 2.20% and the 700 Watt power that is equal to 2.58 %, 2.92%, 3.66% and conventionally obtained patchouli oil yield by 1.64%, 1.96%, 2.25%.
