Abstract

Kenaf (Hibiscus cannbinus L.) merupakan tanaman herba penghasil serat yang sudah dikembangkan di Indonesia sejak 1980 melalui program ISKARA (Intensifikasi Serat Karung Rakyat). Kendala yang saat ini dihadapi adalah lahan produktif untuk pengembangan tanaman kenaf semakin sempit sehingga berdampak pada penurunan produksi serat kenaf sebagai bahan baku industri. Melalui permasalahan ini memungkinkan untuk mengembangkan tanaman kenaf agar produksi kenaf semakin stabil. Pengembangan tanaman kenaf melalui perbaikan secara genetik menjadi salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan. Hubungan antar karakter dalam tanaman kenaf memiliki peran penting dalam program pemuliaan tanaman, khususnya dalam pengembangan varietas berdaya hasil tinggi. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan analisis regresi dan korelasi untuk mengetahui hubungan antar karakter, sehingga didapatkan informasi yang dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu pertimbangan dalam melakukan upaya perbaikan genetik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk Untuk mengetahui fungsi regresi linear beberapa karakter pada tanaman kenaf generasi F2, dan untuk mengetahui nilai koefisien korelasi beberapa karakter tanaman kenaf generasi F2. Hipotesis yang diajukan terdapat beberapa karakter yang mampu memprediksi nilai karakter lain dalam model regresi linear, dan terdapat beberapa karakter yang memiliki nilai koefisien korelasi yang signifikan terhadap karakter lain. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari sampai Juni 2018 di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Brawijaya desa jatimulyo, kecamatan Lowokwaru, Kota Malang. Secara geografis area penelitian ini berada pada ketinggian 460 mdpl dengan temperatur harian berkisar 20oC – 28oC. Bahan yang diteliti adalah tanaman kenaf generasi F2 yang merupakan hasil persilangan dari varietas HC48 dan SM004, Dalam penelitian ini, kenaf ditanam dalam satu petak lahan berukuran 6 x 5 m tanpa blok. Pengamatan dilakukan secara langsung terhadap 350 tanaman sampel melalui pengambilan data kuantitatif beberapa karakter seperti jumlah ruas, jumlah cabang, panjang batang, diameter batang, diameter core, tebal kulit dan hasil berupa berat kering serat. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis regresi dan korelasi. Dengan demikian dapat diketahui sifat mana yang memiliki hubungan paling erat dan pengaruh terbesar terhadap hasil tanaman kenaf. Berdasarkan analisis yang telah dilakukan didapatkan hasil bahwa beberapa karekter kenaf yang diamati mampu menjelaskan nilai karakter lain melalui fungsi regresi linear. Hal tersebut juga didukung dengan hasil analisa korelasi yang menunjukkan bahwa keeratan hubungan yang terjalin antar karakter tersebut bersifat nyata. Karakter tanaman yang paling mampu menjelaskan nilai karakter lain adalah diameter batang, dimana diameter batang 94% mampu memprediksi nilai diameter core dan 81% mampu memprediksi nilai hasil serat kenaf melalui fungsi regresi linear. Selain itu, keeratan hubungan yang terjalin antar keduanya juga tergolong kuat.

English Abstract

Kenaf (Hibiscus cannbinus l.) is an herbaceous plant producing fibres which are already developed in Indonesia since 1980 through ISKARA (the intensification of Fiber Sack folk). The constraints currently facing is productive land for the development of kenaf plants the more narrow so that the impact on kenaf fiber production decreased as industrial raw material. Through this problem allows to develop kenaf plant is kenaf production in order to be more stable. Development of kenaf plant through genetic improvements into one effort that can be done. The relationships between the components of the crop against the result has an important role in plant breeding programs, especially in the development of yield. Therefore, need to held regression and correlation analysis to know the relationships between characters, so that the information obtained that can be used as one of the considerations in doing the genetic improvement effort. The purpose of this study is to determine the linear regression function of several characters in kenaf F2 generation, and to find out the magnitude and direction of the closeness of the relationship that exists between several characters of kenaf F2 generation. The hypothesis proposed is there are some characters that are able to predict the value of other characters in the linear regression model, and there are several characters who have a great relationship, positive, and significant with other characters The research will be held in February to June 2018 at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Brawijaya jatimulyo village, Lowokwaru sub-district, Malang city. Geographically this research area is located at an altitude of 460 mdpl with daily temperature ranging from 20oC - 28oC.. The material is researchable kenaf plant generation F2 which is the result of crosses of HC48 and SM004, In this study, kenaf were grown in one patch of land measuring 6 x 5 m without blocks. Observations made directly against 350 plant samples through quantitative data such as number of segment, number of branch, length of stem, stem diameter, core diameter, skin thickness, and dry fiber weight as the yield. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of correlation and analysis of regression. Thus knowable the yield commponent which has most closely and greatest influence to the yield of kenaf. Based on the analysis that has been carried out, it is found that several kenaf characters observed are able to explain the value of other characters through the linear regression function. This is also supported by the results of correlation analysis which shows that the relationship between the characters is significant. The character of the plants that were most able to explain the value of other characters is the diameter of stem, where the diameter of stem 94% was able to predict diameter of core values and 81% were able to predict kenaf fiber yield values through linear regression functions. In addition, the close relationship between the two is also strong.
