Abstract
Karya sastra merupakan salah satu bentuk aktualisasi dari pemikiran alam bawah sadar seorang pengarang yang dituangkan dalam bentuk sebuah karangan cerita. Novel merupakan salah satu jenis karya sastra yang memiliki bentuk penyajian cerita yang lebih rinci dan kompleks. Dalam sebuah cerita tokoh merupakan unsur intrinsik yang penting dalam membentuk cerita. Setiap tokoh memiliki keunikan permasalahan atau konflik masing-masing sesuai proses kreatif yang dialami penulis. Penelitian ini berusaha mengidentifikasi tentang konflik psikologis dan bentuk pemertahanan diri seorang tokoh dalam menghadapi konflik. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif dengan menggunakan teori psikologi sastra sebagai dasar asumsi dan teori penelitian. Penelitian ini juga memakai konsep teori psikonanalisis Sigmund Freud. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik dokumentasi yang mengambil data utama dari novel, serta menggunakan buku, jurnal, artikel, ataupun tulisan dari blog yang terpercaya sehingga dapat menguatkan data. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa tokoh Alfa mengalami bentuk konflik Approach-Avoidance dan Avoidance- Avoidance. Kedua bentuk bentuk konflik tersebut menyebabkan tokoh Alfa mengalami rasa cemas dan rasa tidak aman. Serta mengetahui bentuk pemertahanan diri yang dilakukan oleh Alfa yakni represi, normadisme, kompensasi, rasionalisasi, subtitusi, dan identifikasi.
English Abstract
Literature work is one form of author’s subconscious mind actualization that is poured into words. Novel is one type of literature work that has a more detailed and complex story presentation. In a novel, characterization is a part of the story intrinsic element. Character is an important element that forms the story. Each character has its own unique conflicts and problems. This research tries to identify the psychological conflicts and the form of self-defense that is shown by a character in encountering a conflict. The type of this research is descriptive-quantitative and uses literature psychological theory as primary foundation and the theoretical framework. This research uses Simund Freud’s psychoanalysis concept. Data collection technique uses in this research is documentation technique with the main data is taken from novel, books, journals, or blogs. The result of the research revealed that the character of Alfa experienced Approach-Avoidance and Avoidance-Avoidance conflict. Those conflicts cause anxiety and insecurity to Alfa. Also the self-defenses used by Alfa are repression, normadism, compensation, rationalization, substitution, and identification
