Abstract
Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara cultural value dengan anxiety about aging masyarakat Toraja. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah masyarakat Toraja dengan kelompok usia dewasa madya (40-60 tahun) dan dewasa akhir (60 tahun ke atas) yang masih melakukan ritual Ma’ Nene’ atau Ma’ Ta’ Da’ berjumlah 203 subyek. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah skala INDVALS (Sihombing, 2014) untuk mengukur cultural value dan skala AAS (Lasher dan Faulkender, 1993) untuk mengukur anxiety about aging. Analisa data menggunakan bantuan program statistik SPSS 21.0 for Windows. Hasil analisa hipotesis menggunakan metode Spearman. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi (ρ) sebesar 0,000 < α = 0,05 dengan correlation coefficient sebesar -0,295, maka hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang negatif antara cultural value terhadap anxiety about aging.
English Abstract
This research is aimed to determine the correlation between cultural value and anxiety about aging in Toraja people. The subject of this research are middle age (40-60 years old) and elderly (above 60 years old) who still undertake the Ma’ Nene’ and Ma’ Ta’Da’ ritual (corpse thanksgiving ritual). As much as 203 subjects including 104 males and 99 females (middle age: 123 subjects, elderly: 80 subjects) of Toraja people were involved with purposive sampling technique. The instruments of this research are INDVALS (Indonesian Value Scale) developed by Sihombing (2014) with Cornbach Alpha 0.82 to measure cultural value and AAS (Anxiety About Aging Scale) developed by Lasher and Faulkender (1993) with Cornbach Alpha 0.86 to measure anxiety about aging. The result of this research was conducted using Spearman Rank Correlation and generate the signification by the hypothesis result (ρ) = 0,000 < α = 0,05. Coefficient correlation of this research resulted -0,295, therefore negative correlation is occurred between cultural value and anxiety about aging. The high level of cultural value will produced low level of anxiety about aging and the otherwise.
