Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui efek media berkenaan dengan terbentuknya kebijakan peningkatan penerimaan pengungsi di Australia pada 09 September 2015. Australia merupakan salah satu negara destinasi pengungsi yang bersikap selektif dalam penerimaan pengungsi, ditunjukkan dengan penerapan kebijakan turnback boats. Ditengah pro kontra di berlakukannya kebijakan tersebut muncul kasus Aylan bocah pengungsi Suriah yang tewas terdampar di pinggiran pantai Turki. Kasusnya yang menjadi viral kemudian memunculkan banyak respon dari negara salah satunya Australia yang memutuskan merubah haluan kebijakan dengan melakukan peningkatan penerimaan pengungsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Policy-media Interaction Model milik Piers Robinson. Analisa hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa dalam diterapkannya kebijakan peningkatan penerimaan pengungsi, media memberikan efek dan kontribusi melalui framing yang digunakan.
English Abstract
This research were done to know the effect of the media regarding with the forming policy of raising refugee acceptance in Australia on September, 9th 2015. Australia is one of the refugee destinated countries which are selective in accepting refugee, it shown by the practice of turnback boats policy. In the middle of pros and cons of that practiced policy, Aylan Kurdi the lost Syrian boy that stranded in the verge coast of Turkey case were arised. Those case become wellknown and bring up many responses from the nation which is one of them is Australia who decide to change the policy direction by raising the refugee acceptance. This research use Policy-media Interaction model approach of Piers Robinson. The analysis found that in the application of raising refugee acceptance, media provide effect and contribution by framing that is used.
