Abstract
Pada tahun 2016 Korea Selatan mengumumkan secara resmi bekerja sama dengan Amerika Serikat untuk mengembangkan sistem pertahanan Terminal High Altitude Air Defence (THAAD) yang di-claim oleh Korsel untuk melindungi pertahanan dari serangan nuklir Korea Utara. Berbagai respon berdatangan dari dalam negeri maupun luar negeri. Tiongkok adalah satu-satunya negara yang memberikan respon ketidaksetujuan terhadap pengembangan sistem tersebut di wilayah regional Asia Timur. Ketidak-setujuan Tiongkok terhadap pengembangan sistem tersebut ditunjukan melalui tindakan sanksi ekonomi. Pada tahun 2016, Tiongkok secara tidak langsung memberikan sanksi ekonomi dengan menghambat perdagangan Korsel ke wilayah Tiongkok di berbagai bidang ekonomi. Mulai dari bidang entertaiment, perdagangan kosmetik, otomotif, barang electronik, pelarangan wisata hingga penutupan gerai Lotte (waralaba terbesar di Tiongkok milik Korsel). Dari tindakan Tiongkok tersebut Korsel mengalami kerugian besar, dan melaporkannya kepada World Trade Organization (WTO). Penelitian ini akan mencari jawaban mengenai tindakan ketidaksetujuan Tiongkok yang diutarakan melalui keputusan memberikan sanksi ekonomi ketimbang tindakan yang lain. Yang merupakan tindakan ekonomi suatu negara untuk merespon tindakan militer negara lain.
English Abstract
In 2016 South Korea announced officially working with the United States to develop a defense system called Terminal High Altitude Air Defence (THAAD) which South Korea intended to protect the defense from North Korea's nuclear attack. Various responses came from domestic and abroad. China is the only country to respond to disagreement of the development of the THAAD system in the East Asia region. China’s disagreement towards the development of the system is shown through economic sanctions. In 2016, China indirectly provided economic sanctions by inhibiting South Korean trade to China in various economic fields. Ranging from entertainment, cosmetics, automotive, electronic goods, tourism bans to the closing of Lotte outlets (South Korea's largest franchise in China). From the Chinese action South Korea suffered heavy losses, and reported it to World Trade Organization (WTO). This research will look for answers about China's disapproval actions expressed through decisions to provide economic sanctions rather than other actions. Which is an economic action of a country to respond to the military actions of other countries.
