Abstract
Penelitian ini berangkat dari kurangnya minat masyarakat terhadap sejarah tokoh pers Indonesia terutama tokoh pers perempuan. Tidak banyak masyarakat mengenal para tokoh pers yang memiliki jasa dalam menggerakkan roda demokrasi melalui perjuangan dengan pena. Disisi lain, sejarah penting untuk diketahui oleh masyarakat karena sejarah dapat digunakan sebagai pedoman dalam memahami kondisi kontemporer karena sejarah menunjukkan pembentukan nilai, kepercayaan, praktik, etik serta peristiwa masa lalu untuk memahami kondisi sekarang. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengenalkan tokoh pers Indonesia, bagaimana perjuangan dan jasanya dalam pers Indonesia dalam paradigma penelitian kritis. Tokoh pers Indonesia yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah Herawati Diah. Sayangnya ketokohan dan kepeloporan sebagai bagian dari sejarah pers Indonesia ini, tidak banyak mendapatkan perhatian dari masyarakat. Penelitian ini berusaha menjawab pertanyaan penelitian tentang bagaimana mengenalkan tokoh pers Herawati Diah dan kiprahnya dalam pers Indonesia menggunakan perspektif communication history untuk melihat bahwa penelitian mengenai tokoh pers menjadi bagian dari sejarah komunikasi melalui studi jurnalisme. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode performance research dengan menggunakan data naratif. Hasil analisis data menemukan bahwa; (1) kiprah Herawati Diah dalam sejarah pers Indonesia tidak dikenal oleh masyarakat; (2) belajar sejarah melalui seni merupakan cara belajar yang menyenangkan; (3) Mengetahui tokoh pers merupakan hal yang penting untuk dipelajari oleh masyarakat. Analisis data juga menemukan bahwa pemikiran Herawati Diah dan kecintaannya terhadap dunia jurnalistik dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan keluarga dan latar belakang pendidikannya di Amerika.
English Abstract
This research departs from the lack of interest of the public in the history of Indonesian press figures, especially women press figures. Not many people know the press figures who have services in moving the wheels of democracy through struggle with pens. On the other hand, history is important to be known by the public because history can be used as a guide in understanding contemporary conditions because history shows the formation of values, beliefs, practices, ethics and past events to understand current conditions. This research tries to introduce the Indonesian press figures, how the struggle and services in the Indonesian press are in the critical research paradigm. The Indonesian press figure discussed in this study was Herawati Diah. Unfortunately, the figures and pioneering as part of the history of the Indonesian press have received little attention from the public. This research attempts to answer research questions about how to introduce press figures Herawati Diah and her work in the Indonesian press using the communication history perspective to see that research on press figures is part of the history of communication through journalism studies. The research method used in this study is a method of performance research using narrative data. The results of data analysis found that; (1) Herawati Diah's work in the history of the Indonesian press is unknown to the public; (2) learning history through art is a fun way of learning; (3) Knowing the press figures is an important thing to be learned by the community. Data analysis also found that Herawati Diah's thoughts and her love for the journalistic world were influenced by her family's environment and educational background in America.
