Abstract

Tanaman jagung manis (Zea mays saccharata Sturt L.) ialah tanaman famili graminae, berkembang didaerah tropis, dan dapat dipanen lebih cepat dari umur jagung biasa ( + 70 hari setelah tanam). Produksi hasil jagung manis, di Indonesia dari tahun ke tahun mengalami penurunan. Produksi jagung manis tahun 2013 seberat 18.506.287 ton mengalami penurunan dibandingkan dengan produksi jagung manis pada tahun 2012 seberat 19.377.030 ton. (Badan Pusat Statistik, 2014). Seiring dengan penurunan hasil produksi dan peningkatan permintaan jagung manis yang tinggi maka usaha meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas hasil produksi jagung manis sangat penting.Tujuan penelitian yaitu, Mendapatkan komposisi media tanam yakni antara tanah, abu vulkanik gunung Kelud, dan ampas tebu terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung manis. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Bendosari, Kecamatan Kras, pada bulan April-Juni 2015.Alat dan bahan meliputi cangkul, timbangan analitik, meteran,polybag ukuran 10 kg, kamera Sony DSC - W350 I. Bahan penelitian: benih jagung manis varietas Bonansa, Pupuk Urea TSP KCl,ampastebu dan abu vulkanik gunung Kelud. Metode penelitianRancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 7taraf perlakuan yaitu : P1: tanah (100%), abu vulkanik gunung Kelud (0%), ampas tebu (0%), P2: tanah (80%), abu vulkanik gunung Kelud (10%), ampas tebu (10%), P3: tanah (60%), abu vulkanik gunung Kelud (20%), ampas tebu (20%), P4:tanah (40%), abu vulkanik gunung Kelud (30%), ampas tebu (30%), P5:tanah (20%), abu vulkanik gunung Kelud (40%), ampas tebu (40%), P6:tanah (20%), abu vulkanik gunung Kelud (60%), ampas tebu (20%), P7:tanah (20%), abu vulkanik gunung Kelud (20%), ampas tebu (60%). Taraf perlakuan diulang sebanyak 4 kali sehingga diperoleh 28 petak percobaan.Data yang diperoleh dari hasil pengamatan diuji dengan analisis ragam (uji F) dengan taraf 5 % untuk mengetahui pengaruh pada setiap perlakuan. Jika terdapat pengaruh pada setiap perlakuan maka dilanjutkan dengan Uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) dengan taraf 5 % untuk mengetahui tingkat perbedaan antar perlakuan. Hasil penelitian membuktikan komposisi media tanam terbaik ialah perlakuan P7 dengan komposisi tanah (20%), abu vulkanik gunung Kelud (20%), ampas tebu (60%) meningkatkan pertumbuhan antara lain panjang tanaman, luas daun dan meningkatkan hasil panen antara lain berat segar dan kering total tanaman, panjang tongkol dengan kelobot, panjang tongkol tanpa kelobot,diameter tongkol dengan kelobot,diameter tongkol tanpa kelobot, bobot tongkol dengan kelobot,bobot tongkol tanpa kelobot dan kadar gula.

English Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays L. saccharata Sturt) is a family of graminae. Sweet corn is addapted in tropical areas, and can be harvested faster than regular corn age (+ 70 days after planting). Production of sweet corn, in Indonesia from year to year is declining. Sweet corn production in 2013 is 18,506,287 tons. It was decreased compared to the production before (2012): 19.37703 million tonnes. (Central Bureau of Statistics, 2014). Along with the decline in production and an increase in demand for sweet corn. It is necessary to increase the quality and quantity of sweet corn production. The research objective is, to determine the best planting media composition between soil, volcanic ash from Kelud mountain, and bagasse, to obtain the growth and yield of sweet corn. The study was conducted in the village of Bendosari, District Kras, in April-June 2015. The tools and materials include hoes, analytical balance, meter, size 10 kg poly bags, camera Sony DSC - W350 I. Materials research: sweet corn seed varieties Bonansa,Utilization Urea TSP KCl, volcanic ash Kelud mountain and bagasse. Research methods Randomized Block Design (RBD) with a 7 level treatment are: P1: land (100%), volcanic ash mountain Kelud (0%), bagasse sugarcane (0%), P2: land (80%), volcanic ash mountain Kelud (10%), bagasse sugarcane (10%), P3: land (60%), volcanic ash mountain Kelud (20%), bagasse sugarcane (20%), P4: land (40%), volcanic ash mountain Kelud (30 %), bagasse sugarcane (30%), P5: land (20%), volcanic ash mountain Kelud (40%), bagasse sugarcane (40%), P6: land (20%), volcanic ash mountain Kelud (60%) , sugarcane bagasse (20%), P7: land (20%), mountain ash Kelud (20%), sugarcane bagasse (60%). Each treatments was replicated by 4 times, hence 28 experimental plot were used as this research. The data obtained from observations tested by analysis of variance (ANOVA) with level of 5% significancy to determine the effect on each treatment. If there is a significancy, continued with Least Significant Difference Test (LSD) with the level of 5% to determine the degree of difference between treatments. The research proves that composition growing media treatment P7 soil composition (20%), volcanic ash mountain Kelud (20%), bagasse sugarcane (60%) increase plant growth, such as: the length of plants and leaf area. Further,yield was improved, such as, fresh weight , total dry matter of plants, the length of the cob with husk, length of cob without husk, cob with husk diameter, the diameter of the cob with husk, cob weight with husk, cob with husk weight and sugar content.
