Abstract

Tanaman kailan ialah sayuran daun yang kurang popular di masyarakat. Namun hal ini tidak menutup kemungkinan kailan akan memasyarakat seperti tanaman sayuran daun lainnya. Pertumbuhan tanaman kailan yang baik dan hasil yang tinggi dapat dicapai dengan memperhatikan syarat-syarat pertumbuhan dan dengan melakukan pemeliharaan tanaman yang baik. Pemeliharaan yang penting diperhatikan ialah kebutuhan air dan pemupukan. Tanaman hanya dapat tumbuh optimal dan memberikan hasil yang tinggi bila kebutuhan air dapat terpenuhi dalam jumlah dan waktu yang tepat . Dalam kehidupan tanaman, air bisa terdapat dalam jumlah yang kekurangan ataupun kelebihan. Kailan termasuk sayuran yang dipanen pada masa vegetatif, sehingga kebutuhan unsur nitrogen harus terpenuhi. Ditambahkan oleh Sutedjo (2008) nitrogen ialah unsur hara pertama bagi pertumbuhan tanaman, yang sangat diperlukan untuk pembentukan atau pertumbuhan bagian-bagian vegetatif, tetapi jika terlalu banyak warna daun menjadi hijau gelap dan dapat mengurangi kadar air tanaman dan jika kekurangan dapat menghambat pertumbuhan tanaman yang berakibat pada penurunan hasil. Menurut Ashari (1995), kadar air dalam tanah yang tinggi disertai banyaknya unsur hara yang terlarut di dalamnya, tidak mencerminkan tingkat atau besarnya serapan air oleh tanaman. Jika terjadi kelebihan air dengan dosis pupuk yang rendah menyebabkan tidak adanya udara dalam pori-pori tanah, keadaan akar yang dapat membusuk dan kebutuhan nitrogen yang tidak terpenuhi akibat pencucian. Apabila keadaan air rendah sedangkan dosis nitrogen tinggi , t anaman tidak dapat menyerap nutrisi secara maksimal. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, maka dilakukan penelitian mengenai pengaturan interval pemberian air dan dosis nitrogen terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kailan ( Brasissca oleracea e L. var. alboglabra ) varietas Nova . Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk m engetahui interval pemberian air dan dosis pupuk nitrogen yang tepat agar diperoleh pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kailan yang optimal. Hipotesis yang diajukan ialah : 1) a da pengaruh interaksi antara interval pemberian air dengan pupuk dosis nitrogen terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kailan , 2) i nterval pemberian air yang berbeda memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kailan , 3) p emberian dosis nitrogen yang berbeda memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kailan . English Abstract

Chinese kale is less popu lar leaf vegetables in the community. However, it does not rule out the possibility that chinese kale will be socialized like other leaf vegetables. Good growth and high yields of chinese kale can be achieved by fulfilling requirements for growth and maintenance of the plant well. Maintenance which is important to note is the need for water and fertilizer. Plants can only grow optimally and give high yields if its water needs can be met in an appropriate time and amount. In the plant life cycle, water can be present indeficiency or excess amount. Chinese kale is included in vegetables harvested in the vegetative period, so that the nitrogen requirement should be fulfilled. Sutedjo (2008), added that nitrogen is the first nutrient for plant growth, which is indispensable for formation or growth of vegetative parts, but if it presents in too much amount, the leaves will become dark green color and it can reduce the water content of the plant and if it presents in deficient amount, it can inhibit the plant growth resulting in decrease of yield. According to Ashari (1995), the high water content in soil along with a high number of dissolved nutrients in it, does not reflect the level or amount of water absorption by the plants. The excess of water content with a low dose of fertilizer can result in the absence of air in the pores of the soil, the roots can be rot and needs of nitrogen a re not met due to leaching. In conditions of low water content with high doses of nitrogen, plants can not absorb nutrients optimally. In this regard, a research is conducted on water interval control and nitrogen dosage on the growth and yield of chinese kale ( Brasissca oleraceae L. var. alboglabra ) varieties Nova. This study aims to determine the water interval control and the proper dosage of nitrogen fertilizer in order to obtain optimal growth and yield of chinese kale. The proposed hypothesis is that: 1) there is an interaction effect between watering interval with doses of nitrogen fertilizer on growth and yield of chinese kale, 2) different watering interval results in different effects on growth and yield of chinese kale, 3) different nitrogen dosage results in different effects on the growth and yield of chinese kale The research is conducted in the greenhouse of Venus Orchid, Tegalweru village, district of Dau, Malang regency with height of ± 750 m dpl and temperature 23-280C. The research is conducted from June to August 2014. Instruments used in this experiment include polybags 10 kg, seedling plastic, trowel, stationery, ruler, measuring glass, scales, signage and cameras. Materials needed are chinese kale s eed varieties Nova (Appendix 1), chicken manure, fertilizer ZA, SP-36, KCl, Furadan i nsecticide 3GR and Decis 25 EC. This research uses factorial randomized block design repeated 3 times. Watering intervals as factor 1 consisting of 3 levels, 2 days (A1), 4 days (A2), and 6 days (A3).
