Nasution, Hanif Ardiansyah (2018) Keanekaragaman Kumbang Ambrosia Pada Tanaman Sengon Sistem Monokultur Dan Polikultur Di Desa Oro-Oro Ombo, Kota Batu. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Ambrosia beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytidae and Platypodidae) are wood borer insects that can cause harm to woody plant. Ambrosia beetles can create gallery systems in woody plants and make interaction with fungi that can attack the plant vascular tissue system causing the plant to die. One of the woody plants attacked by ambrosia beetles is sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria). The research aimed to determine the individuals and species abundance of ambrosia beetle on sengon plant cultivated by monoculture and polyculture system in Batu City. This research was conducted from March to May 2018 on sengon plant monoculture and polyculture owned by the residents in Oro - Oro Ombo Village, Batu City and identification of morphology of ambrosia beetle in Plant Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Brawijaya. The bottle traps were systematically mounted on the sengon monoculture and polyculture fields, each of which has been divided into two observation plots. In each plot there were 12 bottles traps. The distance between bottle traps were 20 m. Sampling was done eight times with one time interval taking time in three days. Temperature and humidity measurements on observation field were performed daily using HTC-2 thermohygrometer devices. Rainfall data was obtained from Malang BMKG Station. Trapped ambrosia beetles were identified by morphological characters and analyzed Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), Simpson's dominance index (C) and Pielou's evenness index (E). T test was carried out on abundance of individual and species of ambrosia beetles in monoculture and polyculture sengon. The similarity of ambrosia beetle species was analyzed by venn diagram using R program version 3.3.0. The results showed that ambrosia beetles in monoculture sengon and polyculture system consisted of 17 species of 11 genera, namely Xylosandrus morigerus, Xylosandrus crassiusculus, Xylosandrus germanus, Xylosandrus sp., Premnobius sp., Xyleborus sp1, Xyleborus sp2, Xyleborus sp3, Xyleborus neotruncatus, Xyleborinus sp., Xyloterinus sp., Ambrosiodmus sp., Hypothenemus sp., Scolytoplatypus sp., Eccoptopterus sp., Treptoplatypus micrurus, Euplatypus paralellus. Diversity index value of polyculture (2,272) were higher than monoculture sengon (1,868). Evenness index value of polyculture (0,819) were higher than monoculture sengon (0,690). Dominance index value of monoculture (0,233) were higher than polyculture sengon (0,124). Individuals and species abundance of ambrosia beetles in polyculture system were significantly higher compared to monoculture sengon.
