Abstract

Hiperkolesterolemia adalah penyakit gangguan metabolisme kolesterol yang disebabkan oleh tingginya kolesterol dalam darah. Pengobatan kimiawi dilaporkan mempunyai efek samping dalam jangka panjang. Ekstrak air benalu mangga memiliki kandungan flavanoid kuersetin, tanin dan saponin yang dapat menurunkan kolesterol total, Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), dan dapat mencegah oksidasi LDL. Tujuan penelitian ini mempelajari peran terapi ekstrak air benalu mangga (Dendrophthoe pentandra) dalam menurunkan kadar kolesterol dan kadar Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), serta perbaikan gambaran histopatologi jaringan aorta. Penelitian ini mengunakan hewan coba tikus yang dikelompokan menjadi 4 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol, kelompok hiperkolesterolemia, kelompok hiperkolesterolemia yang mendapat terapi ekstrak air benalu mangga 400 mg/Kg BB dan 800 mg/Kg BB. Analisa data kadar kolesterol total dan Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) menggunakan one way ANOVA α=0,05 dengan uji lanjutan uji Tukey, sedangkan histopatologi aorta secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terapi ekstrak air benalu mangga dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol dan LDL. Dosis terapi 800 mg/Kg BB menunjukan dosis terbaik menurunkan kadar kolesterol total dan LDL dalam penelitian ini. Terapi ekstrak air benalu mangga dapat memperbaiki gambaran histopatologis aorta tikus hiperkolesterolemia.

English Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a disease of cholesterol metabolism disorder. Chemical teraphy reported have side effects in long term use. Mango mistletoe water extract contains quercetin flavonoids, tannins and saponins which can lowering cholesterol level and LDL level, as well as can preventing LDL oxidation. The purpose of this research was to study the role of mango mistletoe (Dendrophthoe pentandra) water extract in lowering cholesterol and LDL levels, as well as repairing aortic tissue histopathology. This study, rats as experimental animals grouped into 4 groups, namely control group, hypercholesterolemia group, hypercholesterolemia group that received therapy 400 mg / kg bw and 800 mg / kg bw of mango mistletoe water extract. The cholesterol level and LDL level analysis used one way ANOVA α=0,05 with Tukey test, whereas aorta histopathology with descriptive analysis. The results showed that theraphy mango mistletoe water extract could lowering cholesterol and LDL levels. Therapeutic dose of 800 mg / kg bw showed an effective dose for lowering cholesterol and LDL level in. Theraphy of mango mistletoe extract water could repair aortic tissue histopathology of hypercholesterolemic rats.
