Abstract

Ulat daun Plutella xylostella merupakan hama penting pada tanaman sayuran famili Brassicacea. Imago P.xylostella memiliki ciri khas lekukan berwarna putih menyerupai berlian, sehingga disebut Diamondback moth. Serangan berat dari P.xylostella akan mengakibatkan seluruh daun berlubang dan hanya menyisakan tulang daun saja. Kejadian tersebut merupakan konsekuensi dari daya makan yang tinggi selama periode larva P. xylostella, sehingga dapat menyebabkan kehilangan tanaman yang signifikan. Pengendalian dapat dilakukan dengan pemanfaatan agens biologis seperti entomopatogen (patogen serangga). Jamur entomopatogen Lecanicillium lecanii dan Metarhizium anisopliae merupakan agens hayati potensial yang dapat digunakan untuk mengendalikan serangga yang menyerang tanaman. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari hingga Mei 2018 di Laboratorium Hama Tumbuhan Sub Laboratorium Pengembangan Agens Hayati dan Laboratorium Hama 2, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Brawijaya, Malang. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 2 faktor. Faktor pertama adalah jenis jamur entomopatogen (L. lecanii dan M. anisopliae) dan kerapatan konidia 1x106, 1x107, 1x108, dan 1x109 konidia/ml. Variabel pengamatan meliputi penghambatan aktivitas makan larva, mortalitas larva, dan penghambatan pembentukan pupa menjadi imago. Hasil penilitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis jamur dan kerapatan konida berpengaruh nyata terhadap penghambatan aktivitas makan larva, mortalitas larva, dan penghambatan pembentukan pupa menjadi imago.Pada jamur L.lecanii dan M.anisopliae, kerapatan 1x109 konidia/ml merupakan kerapatan yang paling baik dibandingkan dengan kerapatan lainnya. Namun secara keseluruhan, semakin tinggi kerapatan konidia maka semakin tinggi patogenisitas jamur L. lecanii dan M. anisopliae terhadap P. xylostella. Dari kedua jenis jamur entomopatogen, jamur M. anisopliae lebih efektif dibandingkan jamur L.lecanii.

English Abstract

Plutella xylostella leaf caterpillar is an important pest in Brassicacea family. Imago of P.xylostella has a characteristic white colored indentation resembling a diamond, so it is called Diamondback moth. Severe attacks of P.xylostella will result in all leaves hollow and leaves only bone. These incidents are a consequence of high feeding power during the P. xylostella larvae period, which can lead to significant plant loss. The control can be done by utilizing biological agents such as entomopatogen (insect pathogens). Entomopathogenic fungi Lecanicillium lecanii and Metarhizium anisopliae are potential biomass agents that can be used to control insects that attack plants. The study was conducted from January to May 2018 in Plant Pest Laboratory Sub Laboratory of Biological Agent Development and Pest Laboratory 2, Agriculture Faculty, Brawijaya University, Malang. The study was conducted using Completely Randomized Design with 2 Factors. The first factor is the type of entomopathogenic fungi (L.lecanii and M. anisopliae) and the density of conidia 1x106, 1x107, 1x108, and 1x109 conidia/ml. Observational variables include inhibition of larval feeding activity, larval mortality, and inhibition of pupa formation into imago. The result of observation showed that, the type of fungi and the density of konida significantly influence the inhibition of larvae feeding activity, larva mortality, and inhibition of pupa formation into imago. In the fungi L. lecanii and M. anisopliae, the density of 1x109 conidia/ml is the best density compared to other densities. But, however, the higher of the conidial density, so the higher the pathogenicity of the fungiL. lecanii and M. anisopliae to P. xylostella. Of both types of entomopathogenic fungi, M. anisopliae fungi is more effective than the L.lecanii fungi.
