Abstract

English Abstract

Ulceration is a lesion form crater on oral mucous that frequently found, especially Traumatic ulcer. Medicinal treatment like kortikosteroid which usually used to ulcer treatment can caused some effects, therefore alternative therapies are needed. Earthworn’s (Pheretima aspergillum) extract etanol gel can be used as an alternative treatment for traumatic ulser. Earthworn’s extract contained G-90glycolipoprotein which has ability to increase EGF and FGF receptors which stimulate the proliferation of fibroblasts on the wound healing proccess. This study was an experimental study using Randomized Post Test Only Control Group Design to determine the effect of Earthworn’s (Pheretima aspergillum) extract etanol gel to the fibroblasts’ number on the healing process of traumatic ulcer in white rat (Rattus norvegicus) mucous. Samples were selected using simple random sampling technique and then divided into two groups:control group (K) and the treatment group (P). Variable that examined in this study was the number of fibroblast in the mucous ulcer tissue that measured from HPA preparation with HE staining. The results showed an increased fibroblasts’ number in control group (K) and the treatment group (P). Data analysis using one-way ANOVA showed that the change in fibroblasts’ number in each treatment were significantly different (p <0.05). The conclusion of this research was Earthworn’s (Pheretima aspergillum) extract gel had an effect to increase the fibroblasts’ number on the wound healing process of traumatic ulcer in white rat (Rattus novergicus) mucous.
