Abstract

Filariasis adalah penyakit kronis yang terjadi secara periodik (menahun) dan endemik yang ditularkan melalui vector nyamuk culex sp. Repllent adalah bahan kimia yang menjauhkan serangga dari manusia sehingga dapat menghindari gangguan dari serangga. Salah satu keuntungan penggunaan repellent adalah mencegah terjadinya penyakit yang ditularkan melalui vektor nyamuk. Namun kebanyakan repellent yang digunakan oleh masyarakat adalah DEET yang memiliki efek korosif, sehingga penggunaan repellent alami dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuktikanbahwa bunga sukun (Artocarpus altilis L.)mempunyai efek repellensi terhadap nyamuk culex sp. Studi eksperimental menggunakan true experimental-post test only control group designdilakukan dengan metode cawan untuk melihat potensi ekstrak ethanol bunga sukun (Artocarpus altilis L.)sebagai repellent terhadap nyamuk culex sp. dengan konsentrasi 10%,20%, 30%. Subjek penelitian yaitu culex sp. didapatkan dari hasil budidaya Dinas Kesehatan Kota Surabaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian ekstrak bunga sukun (Artocarpus altilis L.) dengan 5 macam perlakuan menunjukan perbedaan jumlah hinggapan nyamuk culex sp.yang signifikan (Anova, p = 0.00). Dengan menggunakan uji analisis post hoc tidak ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan antara konsentrasi 10%, 20%, dan 30%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak ethanol bunga sukun (Artocarpus altilis L.)pada konsentrasi 10% sudah mulai memiliki efek repellensiterhadap nyamuk culex sp. namun jika konsentrasi dinaikan ternyata tidak memiliki perbedaan yang nyata.

English Abstract

Filariasis is a chronic disease that happens periodically and endemically which is transmitted by Culex sp, a mosquito species as its vector. Repellent is a chemical material that can repel insects from human so it can prevent human from mosquito bites. One of the advantage from using repellent is it can also prevent human from disease that can be transmitted by mosquitos. However many kind of repellent that been used by society is DEET that has corrosive effect, so that makes the natural repellent can be one of the alternatives. This research aims to prove that Breadfruit Flower (Artocarpus atilis L.) has repellent effect towardsCulex sp. mosquitoes. This experiment is using true experimental-post test only control group design with container method to see the potency of ethanol extract of breadfruit flower as the repellent to culex sp. mosquitoes and using 10%, 20%, 30% concentration of the extract. The subject of the research is Culex sp. that is obtained from the cultivation of Surabaya Department of Health. The result of research shows that the administration of Breadfruit flower extract (artocarpus altilis L) with 5 kinds of treatment has significant differences of number of mosquito perch on the container (ANOVA p = 0.00). By using post hoc analytical test, there is no significant differences found between 10%, 20%, 30% concentrations. The conclusion is Breadfruit flower (Artocarpus altilis L) ethanol extract in 10% concentration already has an effect of repellency towards Culex sp. mosquito but if the concentration is increased, it proves that it does not have any significant differences.
