Abstract

Insektisida kimiawi memiliki efektifitas tinggi dalam membunuh lalat Musca Domestica dan Nyamuk Culex sp tetapi juga memiliki efek samping yang merugikan terhadap manusia dan lingkungan sedang insektisida alami bersifat mudah terurai sehingga penggunaannya relatif aman. Cinnamomun Cassia mengandung cinnamanaldehyde, eugenol, dan camphor yang diduga mempunyai efek insektisida.Lalat Musca Domestica merupakan salah satu vektor mekanis untuk beberapa penyakit seperti Diare, Disentri dan Cholera sementara nyamuk Culex sp merupakan vektor penyakit Filiariaisis, Japanese B Encephalitis, dan Chikungunya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji perbandingan potensi ekstrak kayu manis sebagai insektisida terhadap lalat Musca Domestica dan nyamuk Culex sp. Penelitian ini merupakan ‘penelitian true experimental-post test only control group design’ dengan sampel yang digunakan adalah lalat Musca Domestica dan nyamuk Culex sp. Pengulangan dilakukan sebanyak lima kali dengan jumlah perlakuan sebanyak 2 jenis yaitu kontrol negatif (aceton 1%),dan konsentrasi larutan ekstrak kayu manis sebesar 10%. Setiap perlakuan diamati pada lima interval waktu yaitu pada menit ke-10, menit ke-20, menit ke-30,menit ke-40,dan menit ke-50. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan potensi insektisida ekstrak kayu manis terhadap Lalat Musca Domestica dan Nyamuk Culex sp dalam setiap peningkatan waktu pengamatan dengan konsentrasi yang sama. Dengan menggunakan Rumus Abbot, diketahui bahwa terdapat perbedaan potensi ekstrak kayu manis terhadap Lalat Musca Domestica dan Nyamuk Culex sp nilai dengan nilai 69.6% pada menit ke-50 untuk Nyamuk Culex sp dan sebanyak 56.00% untuk Lalat Musca Domestica pada menit ke -50. Pengujian Kruskal Walis yang menunjukkan nilai P=0,000(p<0.05) berarti terdapat pengaruh waktu pengamatan terhadap kematian Lalat Musca Domestica dan Nyamuk Culex sp dengan konsentrasi ekstrak kayu manis yang sama. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak ethanol kayu manis ( Cinnamomun Cassia) mempunyai potensi sebagai insektisida yang bagus terhadap lalat Musca Domestica dan nyamuk Culex. Namun begitu, ekstrak ethanol kayu manis memiliki efektivitas lebih tinggi terhadap nyamuk Culex sp berbading dengan lalat Musca Domestica.

English Abstract

Manmade chemical insecticides have proved to be highly effective in eradicating this pest but its negative effects upon human health and environmental safety were major drawbacks to its continued use. Hence, the search for alternative, natural substances such as Cinnamomun Cassia, that were both environmentally safe as well as being effective insecticides. The extract of Cinnamomun Cassia has known to contain high concentrations of cinnamanaldehyde, eugenol, and camphor. These substances were thought to have insecticidal properties. Musca Domestica was selected as the specimen for this study because it served as an important mechanical vector for many diseases endemic in the developing world such as Diarrhea, Dysentry dan Cholera whereas Culex sp is a vector for Filiariaisis, Japanese B Encephalitis and Chikungunya. This study aimed to identify the differences between potency of Cinnamomun Cassia extract against Musca Domestica and Culex sp using a contact poison method. A true experimental study was conducted, using specimens of Musca Domestica and Culex sp at one concentration of Cinnamomun Cassia extract; with one negative control using aceton 1% solution. The experiment was repeated five times and each repetition was observed at five time intervals (10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th,minute). The results showed that there is a increase of insecticidal activity as the time of observation increases with the same concentration of Cinnamomun Cassia towards Musca Domestic and Culex sp. Using the Abbot formula, it was shown that there was a significant difference between insecticide potensial towards Musca Domestica and Culex sp with a value of 69.6% at the 50th minute for Culex sp and 56.00% for Musca Domestica . The Kruskal Walis test showed a value of P=0,000(p<0.05) which proves that there is influence of time in the insektisidal activity of Cinnamomun Cassia towards Musca Domestica and Culex sp. It can be concluded from this study that Cinnamomun Cassia is a potent and effective insecticide towards Musca Domestic and Culex sp. However, Cinnamomun Cassia has a higher insecticidal towards Culex sp compared to Musca Domestica.
