Abstract

Kekerasan terhadap anak meningkat tajam dari tahun ke tahun. Komisi Perlindungan Anak Indonesia (KPAI) per April 2015, mencatat terjadi 6006 kasus kekerasan anak di Indonesia. Kekerasan yang paling sering dialami anak adalah kekerasan emosional dalam bentuk kekerasan verbal. Kekerasan verbal adalah segala bentuk ucapan orang tua untuk anak-anak yang mengancam, menakut-nakuti, dan menghina, yang menyebabkan konsekuensi yang merugikan emosional, dan berpengaruh pada perkembangan kognitif karena akan menghambat proses belajar anak. Hal ini terjadi setiap hari di rumah harus menjadi tempat yang paling aman dan perlindungan bagi anak-anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan tingkat kekerasan verbal orang tua terhadap perkembangan kognitif dan mental emosional anak usia prasekolah di Desa Karangsentul Kecamatan Gondangwetan Kabupaten Pasuruan. Desain penelitian adalah analitik observasional dengan metode pendekatan cross sectional. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah Purposive Sampling dengan jumlah sempel sebesar 97 anak usia prasekolah (4-6 tahun) dan 97 orang tua. Variabel independen adalah tingkat kekerasan verbal orang tua yang diukur menggunakan kuesioner yang telah teruji validitas dan reliabilitasnya, sedangkan variabel dependennya yaitu perkembangan kognitif yang diukur dengan menggunakan lembar penilaian perkembangan kognitif DEPDIKNAS (2003) dan mental emosional yang diukur dengan menggunakan KMME (Kuesioner Masalah Mental Emosional). Data dianalisa dengan menggunakan chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan tingkat kekerasan verbal orang tua terhadap perkembangan kognitif dan mental emosional anak usia prasekolah dengan masing-masing nilai signifikan (p < 0,05). Berdasarkan hasil dari penelitian ini, maka disarankan agar para orang tua bisa lebih menerapkan cara mendidik anak tanpa kekerasan verbal sehingga perkembangan kognitif dan mental emosional dapat berkembang secara optimal.

English Abstract

The incidence of children violence increases rapidly each year. Since April 2015, Indonesian National Commission for Children Protection (KPAI) had recorded as many as 6,006 child abuse cases occured in Indonesia. Verbal abuse, as a kind of emotional abuse, was mentionned to be the most frequent violence experienced by children. Verbal abuse is any form of threatening, frightening and insulting statement from parents to children, which may lead to adverse emotional consequences. Learning process can also be inhibited because verbal abuse might affect cognitive development of the child. It can happen every day, eventhough home should be the safest place and protection for children. This study aimed to analyze the correlation of verbal abuse from parents with preschool child cognitive and mental emotional development in Karangsentul village, Gondangwetan, Pasuruan. The study design used was observational analytic with cross sectional approach method. Purposive sampling technique was used with a total sample of 97 preschool children (4-6 years old) and 97 parents. The independent variable was the level of verbal abuse from parents that were measured using a questionnaire (which had been tested for validity and reliability), while the dependent variables were cognitive development (measured by using DEPDIKNAS Assessment Form of Cognitive Development (2003)), and mental emotional development (measured by using KMME (Mental Emotional Problems Questionnaire)). The obtained data were analyzed using chi-square test. The results showed that the level of verbal abuse from parents and cognitive, mental emotional development in preschool child correlated significantly (p < 0.05). Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that parents should apply non-violent ways to educate children so that their cognitive and mental emotional can develop optimally.
