Abstract
Salmonella Typhi merupakan salah satu bakteri penyebab terjadinya demam enteric atau demam tifoid, yang bersifat sistemik dan dapat mengakibatkan kematian apabila tidak diberikan terapi dengan benar. Pada tahun 2011 demam tifoid menjadi penyakit dengan jumlah kasus rawat inap tertinggi ketiga di Indonesia. Antibiotik merupakan pengobatan yang masih menjadi pilihan untuk mengobati penyakit demam tifoid. Namun kini telah ditemukan beberapa jenis antimikroba yang sudah tidak efektif lagi dalam melawan infeksi S.Typhi. Daun mimba diketahui memiliki kandungan flavonoid, tanin dan alkaloid yang memiliki efek sebagai antimikroba. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antimikroba ekstrak daun mimba terhadap S.Typhi dengan metode difusi sumuran. Parameter aktivitas antimikroba yang diamati adalah terbentuknya zona inhibisi disekitar lubang sumuran. Ekstrak daun mimba yang digunakan, yaitu 0%, 5%, 10%, 20% dan 40% dengan menggunakan empat isolate S.Typhi. Rata-rata diameter zona inhibisi yang terbentuk pada konsentrasi 0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, dan 40% berturut-turut adalah 0 mm, 5,75 mm, 11 mm, 14,75 mm, dan 18,25 mm. Dari hasil analisis yang dilakukan didapatkan bahwa setiap peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak daun mimba akan diikuti dengan penambahan diameter zona inhibisi yang terbentuk disekitar lubang sumuran (korelasi Pearson, p = 0,00). Kesimpulan yang didapatkan pada penelitian ini adalah ekstrak daun mimba (Azadirachta indica A.Juss) memiliki efek sebagai antimikroba terhadap S.Typhi secara in vitro.
English Abstract
Salmonella Typhi bacteria is one of the causes of the occurrence of enteric fever or typhoid fever, which is can result systemic infection and can result in death if not given therapy properly. In 2011 typhoid fever became a disease with the number of cases of hospitalization the third-highest in Indonesia. Antibiotic treatment is still first choice for treating typhoid fever. But now it has been found some type of antimicrobial that is no longer effective to fight against infection of S. Typhi. The leaves neem contain flavonoids, tannins and alkaloids which have effect as antimicrobial. This research aims to know the antimicrobial activity of leaves extracts of neem against S. Typhi by diffusion method. Antimicrobial activity of note with the formation of the inhibition zone around the hole. Leaf extract of neem is used, i.e. 0%, 5%, 10%, 20% and 40% by using four bacterial isolate. The mean diameter of the inhibition zone that formed at concentrations of 0%, 5%, 10%, 20%, and 40% respectively is 0 mm, 5.75 mm, 11 mm, 14.75 and 18.25 mm. Analysis statistic result that higher concentration of leaf extract of neem the greater diameter of inhibition zones were formed (pearson correlation, p =0,00) The conclusions obtained in this research is the leaf extract of neem (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) has an antimicrobial effect as against S. Typhi in in vitro.
